Opposition to the creation of a new Maryland Sub-Barber license - Limited License - Barber Stylist. This proposed license would allow an individual to perform certain services but not all of the current services allowed under the scope of Maryland's current barber license. This proposal has already been rejected by the Maryland State Barber Board due to the budget constraints within the Maryland Department of Labor & Licensing. The current license structure in Maryland already encompasses all aspects of services required by the public as well as properly insuring education in all areas of public safety. The creation of this Barber sub-license would only further confuse the limited inspection staff within the DLLR and it would not stop a person with this "proposed Limited Barber License" from performing services that only a traditional barber can perform. As licensed barbers we pay twice the license fee of Maryland cosmetologist and want to see this money go back into PROPERLY governing the current licenses and not creating another license that would only cause more confusion and gray area that can only lead to further opportunity for non-licensed activity - How is the "public" gonna be able to tell the difference between a "limited barber" and a "regular barber". ATTENTION All BARBERS, MASTER BARBERS - The more we allow people to dissect our "Traditional Barber License" the SOONER it will become Deregulated!!! if you want to protect the integrity of your license and this profession please sign this petition!!!!

This bill will definitely de-value the profession. As a shop owner and soon to be license barber this will hinder my business goals and make it difficult for me to compete with the Great Clips and Hair Cuttery's in the state that allow stylist to perform men haircuts. Now I will have to COMPETE with Sub-Barber's...I am not a proponent of this bill.
