I'm all for anyone getting a dog, as long as you pay for vets bills, vaccinations, food... Take it for walks, basically care for it right, don't just leave it with the parents when you decide it's time to start drinking! But hell, get a dog, they're the best! (p.s. if you get a job and save up some £, your dad may be more up for it - show that it wouldn't just be your dad's financial burden and that you're taking it as a real responsibility). Good Luck.
