I'm looking forward to the success of your interest in this disease. I was diagnosed with HPTD 10 years ago, ENT Dr. Did surgery in the hopes of finding the "hot" parathyroid gland but did not find it. He removed my thyroid gland and now, lucky me, I get to take a pill every morning. I have had repeated nuclear scans, ultra sounds, ct scans and still no hot spot. My calcium levels have remained high and still are in all these years.

I was diagnosed with HPTD 10 years ago, ENT Dr. Did surgery in the hopes of finding the "hot" parathyroid gland but did not find it. He removed my thyroid gland and now, lucky me, I get to take a pill every morning. I have had repeated nuclear scans, ultra sounds, ct scans and still no hot spot. My calcium levels have remained high and still are in all these years.

Here in England we do not routinely have blood tests done unlike in the USA where insurance demands it. Consequently the doctors are not being alerted and the common symptoms of Hyperparathyroidism are often trivialized.

i was so sick! It took a very good GP in London, UK suspect and after let down by 2 top specialist in London - the GP suggested I went private. So I did! I found Dr Normal and after a simple operation I am my normal self! So much pain and suffering I went through could be avoid if all doctors were properly aware of the disease and how simple it is too cure it!! Education education education

I remember going to the doctors at 23, 7 years ago complaining of the awful aches I had, only to be laughed at and told, what problems could someone your age have with their back. By this time I'd already had 2 kidney stones and high calcium levels. All symptoms were "something I'd have to live with." Now I'm 30, just 30 and feel like my nan, a 70 year old woman with dementia. I've had to close my business. My life would be so different now if doctors were better educated. It's not as rare as people think, I have it, my mum has it, and my mums next door neighbour has.

Dont wait until your body is ruined, two simple blood tests can,diagnose this awful disease, a calcium and parathyroid taken at the same time. Would save the NHS millions spent on expensive scans.
