Another ridiculous idea and waste of money to replace these beautiful cast iron lamp posts with some modern vulgar alternative. Decision made by someone living miles and miles away with no consideration of keeping this beautiful historic village just as it is ? Have they visited the village or did they just look at an aerial view on the internet ?

Considering some of the high street is part of a conservation area so the look of the buildings can't be changed replacing the cast iron lamp posts would be detrimental to the historical look of the high street. The look of the buildings are protected with planning permissions and reasons to do so needing to be granted to change them. What reason could there be to spend money replacing them rather than refurbishing them to help keep the character of the high street.

Removal of these decorative lamp posts would be a very big mistake, and also, from what I have heard, a very expensive one. Wonder who will put their name on the line for it?

Please reconsider your decision and refurbish the original lamp posts which are much more in keeping with the village.
The case for this has not been made out from an engineering or environmental perspective - and the aesthetic case is unanswerable. No!
refurbishing the lampposts would be a far better use of funds than replacing them with inferior ones which will not last half as long.
Genericism and blandification, hallmarks of the 21st century. Preserve the uniquenness of Hurstpierpoint. Save the lampposts.
Don't remove the lamp posts!
please re evaluate this decision.
Why on earth do this, its not necessary and a complete waste of our money
I'm shocked!! I thought we had all moved on from this level of cultural vandalism along time ago!! what else can we do to stop this?
