At the end of the semester I had a practical editing exam which I failed because I wasted all of my time trying to fix the issues that Avid media composer was having in addition to the fact that the machine I was working on crashed numerous times. I was also told to move my files to another part of the computer half way through my exam which ended up corrupting my programs performance.

Constant crashing from software makes work hours longer than it should be. People I know have failed exams and projects because the computer and software is unreliable.

Therefore the school needs to update their materials for the media programs such as computers and software in all labs so that new comers to the school and those moving on to further years do not have constant struggles.

I am completely for this petition. As a first year student it is unacceptable the amout of difficulty i have had with the use of the software and hardware provided. Considering that we are required to be tested one how to use the software. How am I supposed to pass my practical exam with the software + hardware when it simply just does not work.

Some computers do not have the proper plug in files that allow us to properly link to our footage from the F3 camera. Avid also crashes all the time. Also having mice and keyboards that work would be nice too.

The software versions are different in multiple labs. Makes it very hard to move around the labs and being able to work in different spots

Software and hardware need to be updated to handle the amount of data we put through the machines. I also have constant problems with Avid crashing. It would also be nice to calibrate the monitors so we can color correct effectively.
