As ever, instead of the serious infrastructure we need, and proper support for rail travel, we get an expensive, half-baked, trophy idea. What we want is a real 21st century railway.

Put in a tunnel. Remove spoil by rail. Don't ruin one of the best bits of London to save a few journey minutes.

Please make sure Hampstead is not affected by the HS2 project in any way. It is important for our family with young children.

HS2 makes the politicians feel good - nobody else wants it. Time is not so precious nowadays - people can work on the train if they want and the amount of time which is wasted on Facebook, Twitter etc. shows that time is no longer important to people. Leave us alone with endless destructive changes.

HS2 is a 'white elephant'! We should be upgrading our current rail network, rather than spending so much to benefit a few!

Am I the only one who thinks £50bn is a ridiculous sum of money for 20mins off a journey that most of the country won't make? Priorities seem somewhat skewed from my perspective.

There are more effective ways than HS2 to update the railways and the devastion to towns and countryside wil be irreparable.
If we have to have HS2 - and I'm not convinced of the case - there are ways of routing it so that it would cause the least amount of disruption to the daily lives of people living in Camden

I completely subscribe to the views represented by the Society. Hampstead is a historic place which needs protection, unfortunately more and more frequently. Camden Council shows little interest for Hampstead so it is important the highest instances consider the potential damages. Would the same level of damage and destruction be inflicted to Chelsea or Notting Hill?

The entirety of the HS1-HS2 link should be in a tunnel. The effects of the current proposal on the Hampstead area are unacceptable.
