HS2 - impending devastation of Hampstead

The thought of seeing HGV's on Hampstead High Street particularly during the school run fills me with fear. The roads in this area were never designed for HGV's; in some areas cars are too wide for the roads. I hate to think what happens when a HGV on a road that is way too narrow for it comes into contact with children on the pavement. Please review this ill thought plan otherwise we can creating a recipe for a disaster. Thank you.

There are many reasons why HGV's should not be permitted to travel through Hampstead the key two being the acute narrowness of the historic roads not designed to take this type of traffic and secondly the number of schools in the area. Bringing HGV's into close proximity to schools on narrow roads will inevitably lead to accidents. This flawed plan should be seriously reconsidered.

Please reconsider the traffic routes on which HGV's are allowed to travel. With over 30 schools in the Hampstead/Camden/Belsize area and as a parent I am seriously concerned we are generating an accident waiting to happen. HGV's should be diverted onto arterial routes where they belong and not near to children.

I have lived around Hampstead for most of my life and do not want to see the area loose its charm.

The economic argument for HS2 is spurious and cause for rejection alone even without regard to the issues raised in this petition.

The proposed alternative traffic solutions do not take into consideration either the nature or current pressures on the local roads and should be reconsidered.

Hampstead is an area of great historical and cultural significance. It should not be disfigured by HS2.

This will be devastating for North London residents. Please consider other solutions.

Voting against the HS2

This nonsense must be stopped. The devastation will not justify any minimal benefits. Waste of tax-payers money!

Please consider the negative effects that HS2 will have on residents of Northwest London. I urge you to consider the feelings and wishes of the residents you claim to represent.

Bringing up a family in Hampstead this project will blight our lives and affect our health.

We need to protect the Village of Hampstead against the volume of HGVs and the environmental damage it will cause. Please find an alternative route.

I utterly reject the building of the H2 through Primrose Hill & Camden Town. It will bring total chaos in residential areas of historical beauty. and the money rhat that. will cost could be used

I walk/travel through the area every day - the consequences of HS2 will be devastating for the whole area.

Large number of HGVs carrying away tunnel spoil will cause unacceptable levels of congestion, noise and pollution in this quiet corner of London.

HS2 is an ineffieicent use of money. Spend it on upgrading the whole network or better still cut taxes!
