The case for HS2 has still not been proven. The government has not properly addressed environmental concerns; economic benefits; whether this is the correct strategy for national rail infrastructure; the full economic costs to local councils for loss of homes and costs to local economies and residents of a decade of disruption ….

I feel that this grossly expensive project is wanted only by the politicians and not the generalpopulation. It will destroy more than it creates, will cause uncertainty,disturbance, anxiety and have huge financial implications to those living in and around its path. It will, in both the short and long term, destoy areas of historic, rural, urban and commercial communities. It appears that even business claims this to be no longer necessary. This is an oscene waste of public funding and an insult to the vast numer who oppose thisvanity project.

I was opposed to the scheme even before I realised the effect it would have on Camden and Hampstead. The money would be far better spent on getting the rest of the network to a decent standard and reducing overcrowding. The disruption and potential damage to the streets and buildings of Hampstead would be unacceptable for such a long period.

£50bn for a 20 min faster journey seems disproportionate in view of so many other more necessary projects such as flood defences, and adequate housing for our growing population.

The roads in Hampstead are busy as it is without this project making things worse and more dangerous for children crossing. There are many schools in the area.
