Currently there is only 54 students attending Batley Girls High School from the Birstall area, the rest of our children have to travel out of area to be educated in a co-educational environment. As Batley Girls High School is in the process of becoming an all girls academy, if this happens our local children will have no option but to travel out of the area to attend a co-educational school. Our children should not be forced to catch a bus school, all children should be able to walk, local schools for local people! We are not dismissing the need for a Girls High School, we are simply requesting that it is moved to a more appropriate location so that Batley Girls High School (which is located in the Birstall area) can be made into a co-educational school which will serve the local community.
