I feel this is a great cause, after a daunting experience two years ago when I was in hospital for 2 weeks due to a kidney infection. I have a huge fear of hospitals as it is and the staff and ward nurses were lovely and rrally put me at ease; however I was given one of the only beds available in the cardiac arrest ward where I was surround by 6 very poorly elderly ladies who were either waiting for heart transplants or having heart operations. It wasnt the best place for me to be resting and healing as I was always on edge and concerned of the health of the others on the ward even though they were in great hands.

As a recent hospital visitor to a teenager, I think it is unacceptable to put young people on the same wards with some very ill older patients suffering from dementia and other conditions.

Thank you for your input Joshua, we hope that in the near future, we can overcome this problem and make it better for you, although we know that this could be very costly and time consuming.

The NHS were fantastic in my gradual recovery from ebola.

I Agree having had a bad experience at the age of 17 on a ward with adults.

From personal experience, I have strong opinions regarding this matter. As a 17 year old who was taken into hospital several weeks ago, I was placed in care due to a suspected heart attack, in the company of several elderly men. The carers and nurses were fantastic; I couldn't have asked for more support, and quite frankly, I feel they are not paid or supported enough from our nation, and really went that extra mile to support one's needs. Without this support, my stay wouldn't have been bearable. Without criticising the work the NHS go through to provide care for our personal wellbeing, I felt intimidated, and scared, when in the presence of some extremely ill elderly men who were in the ward of which I was situated. I feel a ward for 17-25 year olds would be beneficial as it would provide a comforting environment for those who are suffering from illness by being placed in an environment with those of a similar age. I know there is a high demand in hospitals at this current point in time in the South West, but maybe this could be considered for the future?
