This petition has been designed and circulated to demonstrate to the Southern Boone County R-1 Schools Board of Education the overwhelming support and requests to honor Coach Dave Gill by dedicating and naming the HS basketball court in his honor. Coach Gill had an exemplary record during his 26 year tenure as the boy's basketball coach. His achievements include but are not limited to: being named 1993 Sportswriters Association Coach of the Year; 2004 Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of fame inductee; the 2009-2010 MSHSAA record books currently lists Coach Gill as 52nd in all time wins in the state of Missouri for boy's basketball. At the time of his retirement in 2002-2003 Coach Gill was 41st in all time wins.

Coach Gill led the Eagles to 12 conference championships, 6 district championships, and 3 regional championships. Coach Gill had an overall record of 447 wins and 234 losses- a winning percentage of .656. Individual accomplishments for players who played for Coach Gill include 55 All Conference players, 21 All District Players, and 5 ALL State Players.

Coach Gill's contributions have also been felt in Softball. Coach Gill led the Eagles softball team to 2 of the 3 State Championships this school has ever won.  In addition to the 2 Softball state championships Coach Gill led the Lady Eagle Softball team to 13 District Championships, and 5 Final Four appearances. Coach Gill also coached Golf and had many state qualifiers as well. 

We hereby request that the Board of Education dedicate by renaming the HS basketball court in honor of Coach Gill. This dedication is an excellent way for the Southern Boone Community to acknowledge his commitment to the community and success as a coach. The dedication and naming of the court would honor Coach Gill and all athletes of this school's rich history and tradition that played for Coach Gill. It is honoring an era along with coaches and players. Coach Gill would not have the success he had unless student-athletes committed themselves to the sport and played at a high level on a consistent basis. We feel that dedicating the floor to Coach Gill is the appropriate way to honor a Hall of Fame coach.  Coach Gill dedicated his career to making sure this community was proud of the teams that took the floor. We now have an opportunity to honor a rich era in Southern Boone County Athletics.

Please sign the petition if you feel that this should be carried through by the Southern Boone County R-1 Board of Education. There will be no cost to the district to complete this dedication. The cost has already been covered by a former player and fan.
