Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, 12 September 2020, Deputy Claudia Apolinar and her Partner were ambushed while sitting in their patrol car in Compton CA.The bravery and dedication to duty displayed by the deputies immediately fallowing the shooting is the apex of law enforcement training. It displayed the amazing fortitude of these law enforcement officers as well as their commitment to each other and their community.

Deputy Claudia Apolinar suffered gunshot wounds to the face and jaw

Her partner suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm and forehead

They provided medical assistance to each other while both critically injured and gave communication to responding personnel that secured the scene and alerted others to the life threatening danger in the area.

It is with this petition that we respectfully request that the Office of the President of the United States consider these true American Heroes for a Presidential Citation for their service.

WE FURTHER DEMAND WITH OUR SIGNATURES; THAT ALL OF OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS IN BOTH HOUSES OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS, OUR VOICES IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, OPENLY AND PUBLICLY RECOGNIZE THESE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS FOR THEIR ACTIONS ON THAT DAY. THEY NOT ONLY SAVED EACH OTHER BUT HELPED SECURE THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC AFTER SUFFERING THESE INJURIES.
