Homebase Tower at Wandsworth Town

This development is too tall for our community. Please reconsider.

There is already a massive strain on the local services in the area the rams quarter will be an addition strain shortly this plan is crazy and will cause meyhem

This latest development in the struggle to build the proposed Homebase scheme, is an abuse of both the lawful planning process and the stated wishes of the local community. Planning regulations were laid down with regards to the development of this site and no attempt has ever been made by the developers to adhere to any of these regs. during the course of their three applications. For this reason the scheme was (rightfully) turned down by Wandsworth Planning on two occasions. The local community has made a sound and thoroughly reasonable demand that the developers should adhere to the planning regulations, i.e. low density building, with no structure exceeding nine storeys. The developers have continually ignored these planning strictures in order to maximise their profit from this site. They have now increased the mass, height and volume of the proposal and this is completely unsuitable for such a small plot. There is no benefit in this for the local community , nor for the Wandsworth area in general. In fact, this scheme, if it goes ahead as proposed, will create massive infrastructure problems for the area. There is no factor whatsoever that warrants the Mayor stepping in at this point to override both Wandsworth Council's decision and the local community's wishes. It makes a mockery of democracy!

I strongly object to the this proposal. Wandsworth does not need yet another Tower block of Apartments. The Infrastructure cannot cope at the moment. Wandsworth Town train station is at bursting point. Where are the schools, healthcare, parking to cater for all these extra people? The proposed design is out of keeping with the area. The Tonsleys should be made a Conservation area. There were very good reasons that Wandsworth Planning rejected the previous proposal and for it now to be increased is shameful. The Major should respect the decision of the Planners. Something stinks !!

All of the concerns expressed by several hundreds of local residents and Wandsworth Councillors unanimously are fully documented. In particular, the scale and density of this proposal would have extremely severe impacts on the already overburdened local infrastructure and the wellbeing of the local population. It's very sad and extremely irksome that the views and evidence submitted by the local population are being simply overlooked and disrespected in this manner.

The collective rationale for this opposition is highly pertinent and has been fully documented (within, for example: the 11/07/2017 letter from the Chair of the Tonsley Residents' Association to the London Mayor; and the earlier petition to the Wandsworth Planning Committee containing more than 300 signatures; all the valid reasons for opposing that had been submitted to Wandsworth Council's Planning Department and the reasons from the Councillors who were unanimous in their own decision to, yet again, reject the planning application of this ever-increasing proposed development). It would be a very short-sighted and blinkered move if the London Mayor's officials and advisers overlook the collective rationale for rejecting the impact and, in particular, not take account of the already excessively overburdened infrastructure and associated impacts. Do pay heed to the very valid and pertinent local concerns that are all fully documented - rather than go through a very tightly deadline motions of the current 'consultation' that's being run for the London Mayor.

I am strongly against the plans as proposed. The area's 'village feel' will be lost as a complete lack of parking and week infrastructure investment in Wandsworth town destroy the location

I strongly object to the proposal. To have provision for 385 residential units and only 89 parking spaces given that 54% of London households have at least one car. This is simply inadequate and an injustice to existing residents who will now have to “battle” with a huge influx of residents for parking spaces amongst the already congested streets. I would strongly urge Greater London Authority to reject the application for the development.

Trains cannot support these additional residents.

It is dishonouring to a community to impose an unsightly building in their neighbourhood through force.

I am astonished that the Mayor of London is ignoring the fact that two applications for this site have been turned down and wants the buildings to be even higher. He clearly does not have to live with this. The pressure on space in this area is becoming (already is?) intolerable and Wandsworh Town station at rush hour just dangerous. The scale and number of the proposed buildings is too much, particularly in light of the brewery development. And this will no doubt set a precedent for B&Q. Thhis is no Manhattan. You only have to look over the river to Fulham and realise that high rise buildings are not the answer. The Mayor should respect the Council's decision to reject the application and I urge that this is rejected again for a final time once and for all.

I fully support social and affordable housing but this development is too enormous for the Homebase site. It's height would dominate existing housing and plans for parking are inadequate .

the 17 storey tower is totally overpowering for the area and has been democratically rejected. Please reconsider the height of the building.

More housing is required but this 17 storey tower block will overpower the area and the volume of people too great to be absorbed in our local community.

Absolutely reject this development. It will overwhelm the Tonsleys and there simply isn't the infrastructure to support it. It's down right greedy and the communities expense.

All for more housing in Wandsworth - good, but not to this scale in this particular place. It is not Animal Farm, Saddiq!

I strongly object to this scheme. The Tonsleys is a unique place in London - a village within a city with a close knit community which should be protected. This high rise development has been rejected by the Council for a reason and their sensible planning considerations and the wishes of the local residents should be respected.

Plans are not in keeping with Old York Road and infrastructure is already creaking.

The proposed development is completely wrong for the area. It even goes against Wandsworth's own policy on density, scale and massing as shown by the fact that permission has already been refused. The infrastructure struggles as it is i doubt Wandsworth Town train Station would cope.
