I have been in Portofino since 1978. I have never received a letter requesting that decorations come down in "common area" . I have found discrepancies in your rules for the area in front of our house and what you call the "common area". There are certain choices you have allowed in the common area such as solar lighting going up the steps but not the decorations going up the steps. I am amazed you did not take that away because that is in the common area. Whereas a pumpkin sitting on the front porch is not acceptable. Then there is a choice that you decide whether the common area is a "city problem" or "the responsibility of the Villa Portofino residents" . If it is rats that invade our back yard from the park, then it is a city problem. If it is decorations, then it is the residence problem. If you really want the betterment of our community you would take care of our trees and the tree rat nests. Lastly the trees are not safe from a windy storm. If one fell on a house, you would call it an act of God. In reality it is an act of negligence of you following through with the arborist.

The holiday decorations that are displayed throughout the year add Significantly to the charm, beauty, warmth, sense of community, and Pride of ownership at Villa Portofino. They help create a true sense of community and we look forward to enjoying them on our daily walks. They inspire us to walk the community even more as we enjoy them. We look forward to them with anticipation as holidays approach. Let’s keep this tradition, it is an asset to Villa Portofino and it brings joy.

I was appalled to read the mandate stating no decorations are allowed in the common areas! Very bad decision on the part of the HOA Board especially in the year 2020. Heartless! We've been in VP for 20+ years because it feels like a friendly, close knit hometown community. Expressing joy and love through holiday decorations is what we are. Why would anyone want to change that? What we have in VP is.special. Don't change what is not broken! Please allow this tradition to continue for years to come.

This is outrageous, whoever is making these dumb rules needs to be voted out by our community of homeowners. Christmas lights and decorations is something our kids look forward to, the bigger the display the more exciting it is for kids, we cannot take this away from them too, this year has already been very challenging for young kids to understand why they cannot leave the house to go to school, the park, playdates with their friends, indoor playgrounds, etc.
This is so simple, what is the harm that we are doing by decorating the outdoor areas? Can someone please answer this question?

Our family puts out one of the biggest halloween displays for our development. Unfortunately this year we had to take the year off. We need the area by our house- the front yard area, the fence, etc. to make it something special for everyone. This year we need lights at the holiday season more than ever- why would this even come into question. I vote yes to holiday decorations and of course we can take them down within a reasonable amount of time.

ok... who got pissed off because some Halloween ghost decoration startled them??? Is decorating on fencing around your property and bushes in front your house THAT much a nuisance on common area for a few weeks?
