If you pay taxes to Brunswick County whether it be for a house, mobile home or Camper you should not have to pay to park at the beach! Looks like you guys are trying to make money off of some tourist that sometimes can barely afford a beach day!

My family has owned a place at Holden for well over 50 years. The fact it not commercialized is why I love it so much. I worry that paid parking will only be the tip of the iceberg that will ultimately bring commercialization to Holden. It will take the family out of Holden. For a lot of families extra for parking will be the reason they have to stay home.

This needs to be a ballot vote by the home owners of Holden Beach. I’m all for growth but not at the expense of hurting innocent people in the process.

We live 5 miles from Holden beach and love our family friendly beach. We pray it stays this way so we can continue to enjoy the beach.

I ask you this – what is the plan for adding additional resources HB will absolutely need to accommodate the influx of people and traffic?
• What’s the plan for the additional personnel needed for sanitation and preservation of our beautiful community? Extra staff will be required to assist in controlling the public waste bins that will be brimming with garbage on a daily basis so the debris doesn’t blow into our streets and peoples yards?
• What’s the plan for public restrooms? With so many public parking access points, public restrooms will need to be installed at each point. If not, people will use our beaches, ocean and every other nook and cranny as a way of relieving themselves when nature calls.
• What’s the plan for protecting the residents and vacationers? I hope the idea of adding additional police resources is being considered to control the issues that arise when larger groups of people mix in a controlled area i.e. - fights, drinking & driving, illegal drug use, littering, etc.
• With larger groups using our beaches, is there a consideration of adding lifeguards to keep people safe? Has a study been done to find how many water related issues happen each day at private beaches vs public beaches?
If the goal of Holden beach is to move away from the notoriety it received when being named “Best Family Beach in the US”, then move forward with your public parking proposal. But do know this, your decision will greatly impact every resident and family vacationer that comes to Holden Beach each year in a negative way!

The current plan seems to have identified every parking place possible with no regard to distinctions between streets and/or neighborhoods. A proper plan requires more attention.

Do not add the public paid parking. If there is a meter in font of the home we OWN, we won’t be paying it. You’re driving people away from HB with this ridiculous paid parking proposal.

5 is an excellent point. Maybe there shouldn't be public parking more than walking distance from a public restroom.
7 should also include signage pointing parkers to the nearest public access. We already have significant issues with people using our private beach access.
