Holden Beach Objective Paid Parking Plan

No to paid parking. Have Alan Holden invest his millions to make it nicer.

Please keep fighting this parking plan

Strongly opposed to any parking plan that includes paid parking near the private owner/neighborhood maintained beach accesses (non-CAMA public accesses)

We are homeowners and feel the parking plan should be reviewed by an independent city’ town planner, and all areas such as environmental, restrooms, and encroachment will be considered.

Delanne St. is currently a dirt road, not wide enough for two vehicles to pass safely. Paving this road would require a new drainage plan as run-off from roadway would impact homeowners along Delanne St. There currently is not enough room to have a 2-Lane 2-Way street w/ parking. The beach access at Delanne and Ocean is owned by homeowners (not the town). It is not a public access walkway. It is maintained by the homeowners (Myself being one). The owners of that access should have a say as to how it is utilized, not the town.

I think we need more parking at the beach. If they charged on price for all day or a year pass for residents of Holden wouldn't be too bad

Think we do need to provide some parking for folks from mainland & they should pay something for their visit but we need to ensure that no property owners get over run and that the available parking considers the impact on ,trash, beach access, and the impact on nearby property owners.

I’ve been at HB since 1968 and am not against change but this proposed parking plan could be disastrous and detract from all I have known HB to be for all these years

Suggestions are sound and benefit all

I realize parking is a problem that must be addressed, but this petition makes reasonable suggestions. The filters seem prudent and a TRULY INDEPENDENT third-party consultant should be able to view this situation with eyes unclouded by the PASSIONS of those who love HB both for what IT IS and for what IT ISN'T or by those who might be prone to seek PROFITS at any costs.

Agreed. We have close family who are locals and we personally contribute to local the economy on an annual basis - for years past and hopefully to come. As North Carolinians we view Holden as a treasure, not commercialized like other most other neighboring beach towns. In my opinion this is the first step towards negating what families hold so dear, leading to overpopulation of beaches and surrounding area with a subpar infrastructure to support growth. In the past several years the traffic getting on and off the island has been a cluster, getting worse ever year! So I urge you to develop a plan to preserve the community, ecosystem, and makes sense for locals, property owners and visitors, alike. Capitalism is on the rampage in our country, and it’s sad to see all the treasures we as Americans hold so dear, be ruined by short sighted development for capital gains.

Vehemently disagree with incremental parking proposed at the January 18, 2022 BOC meeting.

I am very concerned about this parking plan and the potential harm it could do to the island.

We need a better plan that does not crowd our streets!! Paid parking lots, not in front of our homes!

I would also recommend fewer golf cart parking spots and to ensure there is a sufficient number of handicap spots near handicap accessible beach access locations.
