Hold Public Meetings on Scarsdale Surveillance System

This process undermines the trust placed in “trustees” by cowering behind the shabby shield of public safety. And the use of “transparency” to describe what is happening now is shameful. The window for trust and transparency was open 6-12 months ago. It closed firmly when this predictably controversial contract was signed. Scarsdale is already famously safe, and FLOCK’s capabilities do nothing to improve the areas that it is less safe. It deserves not a penny of our public resources. The eye-rollingly oddball Scarsdale governance system fails yet again when decisions need to be made that are tough, timely, or transparent.

This seems to have been decided without any input from the citizenry. At a time when governments, both local and federal, are overreaching, this feels like a bad idea.

I am very concerned about crime in my area, but would want to see how the Flock system will likely lower the incidence of crime that is most common as opposed to just spying on people.

I am a Scarsdale landowner and resident, with children attending schools in the environment I long hard fought to achieve. I, in no way, would have ever, approved this motion and I detest it in every way.

I disagree with Flock surveillance .

Public surveillance is not the answer to a relatively low level of crime.

Why was there no robust public dialog when making such an important decision for our community?

I do not want Scarsdalians to lose their sense of privacy or their comfort with peaceful assembly. Do not install this insidious system.

I really hope we can be on the right side of history.

I’m a corporate lawyer who advises on public company governance and disclosure, among other things. and I’m supporting this petition because there is at least a prima fascia case that unsettling and deliberate efforts were made to avoid the sunlight that should have shown on this contract and the associated considerations before it was signed. I hold my opinion on what the ultimate outcome should be as I don’t have enough information in part because of this inadequate and failed process.

Please provide a place/time for the public meeting to address all surveillance questions from residents
