I'm not in Hoboken anymore but this was my home as an artist. I love the staff and met so many awesome performers. It's heartbreaking that this would happen

It's one of the only good bars in Hoboken. Horrible decision to close it.

The last bastion of the Hoboken arts and music community has been eliminated without warning, Northern Soul was the soul of Hoboken.

Shocking turn of events. Small, thriving businesses like this that support the community should be offered more protection form greedy landlords.

We don't need more trendy bars and eateries - we need welcoming establishments that offer good beer, good music and nice people - what a shame - hoboken is becoming too popular for its own good.

Northern Soul was the place which allowed you to learn. Gave you a chance, gave people a place to dance. It gave you a shot. I remember playing out on stage for the first time in my life with Thomas Fishman, we played a song or two before Tom's guitar broke and he had to play his guitar as percussion, Sacha without missing a beat, grabbed his drum and joined us. David Entwistle was behind the board. There were no intentions, only that of playing what we felt. 2 days later, Dave asked our band to play as a group for the first time. It was what we all needed and started a journey that has been the most challenging and rewarding thing anyone could ever ask for. Thank you Donal, Ariana Ben Leo and the rest of the NoSo crew for supporting music and making a music scene for us all.

Having lived a mere 2 blocks away for 5 years, Northern Soul became the the place where I met so many of the people that I now truly love. We laughed, we cried(ok, I cried, a couple times), we formed friendships and always had a home away from home. It was the only establishment in Hoboken that I frequented, due to the amazing staff, constant influx of kind and talented musicians and artists, and because it was one of the only places in town where you always knew there would be a friendly face waiting for you when you walked in.

I could speak to my own personal love, but I'm just one guy. So I'll just say, I can't count on both hands the number of people who have told me they're considering moving out of Hoboken over this. The love for this place and the respect for its being a bulwark for an age when Hoboken promoted art and local culture is unprecedented beyond Maxwells, which came back fairly quickly after it became pretty clear how dumb and unprofitable the initial decision was.

I lived up the st for over 5 years. This establishment is unique to Hoboken. Its also really the only bar I still frequent...and Hoboken has alot of them! I have alot musician friends who frequently play. Countless memories and professionals running the place. Must save northern soul!
