Indiana felons are shot down for jobs every day for a criminal conviction. I feel if the felony is non-violent or is over 7-10 years old with no backslides, an employer should not be able to ask such a question on a job application. It is borderline discrimination. Who cares that I have a 15 year old DWI felony, how does that prevent me from doing my job I am tired of employers taking pick of the litters, when there are other highly qualified individuals out there that may have had a few problems when they were younger. Several states with similar laws are Hawaii, Kansas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They can ask, but can't "not hire you" for a criminal conviction. Although these states laws vary in degree, this is a general rule).
Join the bandwagon. Lets create a similar law in Indiana, so we can all find decent jobs without being discriminated against. This will be forwarded to our Indiana Legislators . Lets make this happen!
I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have joined this effort to help people find work again. It feels like we are on the verge of hitting a major milestone if we can just keep this momentum going for a little while longer.

Enough is enough. If someone has served their time they should be allowed to move on with life. This discrimination stops now.

My husband has been trying to find work for months and gets rejected every single time after they do the background check. It's so frustrating!!!
