Muscota without Dan and Sasha is unthinkable. I’m a Muscota parent since 2011 and they are each among the top reasons I kept my kids there. Let this appeal prevail!

Dan and Sasha are essential to our school and to our children. They are more than gifted teachers, they are essential to the spirit of our community. Their classes have been highlights of remote learning and they have offered happy moments in an incredibly difficult year. Please reconsider our school's request to retain these two amazing educators.

Dan and Sasha are woven into the fabric of the Muscota community. It is not what they do, it is how they do it. These two teachers are beloved by the students and to not allow them to be part of their lives this year after such a disruptive Spring semester would be a terrible shame. Dan and Sasha are responsible for establishing and continuing beloved school traditions which will be vital in this new school year.

The arts are an integral part to our children's education. And an essential reason why we chose Muscota as our school. Please make an exception for this school and community. Let this school continue to lead and be a positive example of how DOE supports arts education.

As a parent in the Muscota community, I cannot stress strongly enough how vital Dan Lipsitz and Sasha Schwartz have been and currently are to the development of our children. In a time when art and music education is being reduced, both financially and programmatically, Dan and Sasha are still able to create experiences and memories for the Muscota community (children and adults) that will last a lifetime. Denying our school's request for an exception to hire Dan Lipsitz and Sasha Schwartz would be a dreadful decision with lasting negative effects. We respectfully request the Department of Education's reconsideration for their hire. Thank you.

Our son will be transferring into Muscota this year, and we chose the school because of its focus on the central role of art and music in its pedagogy. It is also my understanding that Dan and Sasha are a central feature of the way Muscota will be handling staffing during blended learning. I cannot believe that, at a moment when the school system is struggling to figure out how to accommodate the staffing needs of Covid-19 blended learning, the DOE would deny Muscota to implement their solution to this staffing problem. This is not about some kind of “extra” — this is about how the school will manage to provide the essentials of education to the students it serves.

Dan and Sasha have been amazing in developing my smaller kid appreciation for art. He has opened up to new things because of music. It will such a waste to deprived children’s from such talented individuals like Dan and Sasha.

Our art and music programs are essential facets of the Muscota community and the value that Dan and Sasha bring to our children’s lives cannot be calculated in dollars and cents.
During such a difficult time for the kids and parents, artistic expression is so important. We love and value Dan and Sasha beyond measure. Please consider the impact on our kids, who will be grieved to lose such an instrumental and essential part of daily life, in addition to so many other things they have lost.

The Arts classes are a large part of the reason we chose Muscota for our daughter. This is an essential and irreplaceable part of the curriculum. In a time where students need creative ways to release and express themselves more than ever, these courses and instructors are necessary more than ever.

Sasha and Dan are critical to Muscota’s ability to deliver DOE-mandated trauma-informed content and practice to our school community. During this challenging time, it is essential to identify and preserve all opportunities for strong relationships, safety, and joy. Our art and music educators give us all this and more. They are not replaceable or expendable.

The arts and music are such a vital parts of any child’s education. To deny children access to these wonderful teachers at Muscota is an outrage and should be addressed immediately. Times are tough enough as it is and the kids desperately need access to this type of education and to these quality educators.
