The fatalities along the stretch of Hwy 20 between Dyersville and Dubuque will only continue to add up. With the number of new homes being built to the west of Swiss Valley Road, traffic is going to become heavier with each passing day!! We need these FRONTAGE ROADS AND OFF RAMPS.....sooner rather than later!!!!!

Every grade level intersection from the far side of Dyersville to Dubuque has had fatal accidents. This needs to be addressed ASAP. Probably qualifies as the "most dangerous" highway stretch in Iowa.

My son had a couple pull out of him there. they both died and he had all four forearm bones broken. He now sports huge scars and has 4 titanium plates. They didn't see him even with his lights on!

This has been a bad intersection ever since the IOCO stop was put in.

Please think of the people that lost their lives because money was used elsewhere instead of keeping them a little safer.

I have drove this stretch of road for the last 20 years and there have been at least 10 near misses, and three accidents that I have seen myself by the truck stop and FS turnoff. Please do something to make this safer.

My dad was killed here last year and more and more people are losing their lives and family. The injuries (some life long) happen to people and their families. Something must be done. You never know if you will be the next victim of this area.

This portion of the highway is horrible and unsafe to motorists my dad has to use the truck stop exit daily for work and I worry about him. He works for republican which use to be BFI.

I drive this stretch of highway 20 everyday. My father in law was in a horrible accident with a semi and lost his life while driving past Kloeckner formerly Namasco.

I have always been anxious about Hwy 20. My son was in an accident in December 2013 that could have taken his life. He is an excellent driver. He was turning left from Thunderhills heading toward Dubuque. He noticed a car in the turning lane turning onto Thunderhills and waited but did not wait for that car to completely turn. He looked but did not see another car coming. There was another car in the "blind spot." He was hit by a vehicle going at least 65mph and had no idea it was coming. Had he been hit any closer to the door he would have snapped his neck. Only God saved him from that accident. He was not on his cell phone and he was paying attention. This accident was most likely due to lack of experience but all young drivers lack experience. A simple change could save many lives in the future.

I too fear driving this stretch of hwy 20. Very dangerous. I never understood why there were not frontage roads thinking parallel to the highway. Vet poor planning, many deaths. Same in Dyersville on same hwy.

I have lived along the Highway 20 corridor since 1973. While growing up and attending school in Peosta and Epworth, I often heard my mother exclaim how the conversion of the 2 lane highway to 4 lanes wouldn't come soon enough. You see 4 of her 7 children turned 16 prior to the completion of this project. She had legitimate concerns and is grateful for the four lane highway which offered safety that a two lane highway could not provide. Shortly after completion of construction there came an increase in the speed from 55 to 65. Next, because of the new highway commercial and residential growth in the communities west of Dubuque was noticed. Dubuque itself chose to grow its industrial parks, on the west side. All have contributed to increased traffic along Highway 20, with the addition of several at grade intersection. These at grade intersections, once satisfactory for the two lane highway of the 70’s, are no longer safe for the increased traffic along this four lane freeway. Now, I have children that are driving and although the Highway 20 concerns of mine are not the same as my mothers, they are just as valid. I do not want to see any more of my classmates, friends, or family involved in accidents that could be avoided by eliminating intersections through the implementation of ramps and frontage roads.

I lived near this section of highway 20 in Peosta and it is extremely dangerous. I cannot count how many accidents I have almost been in because of the truck stop, especially in the winter. Semis are pulling out right in front of cars which have to brake and braking in winter weather is dangerous and unsafe. It is about time this is fixed. Thank you!

Also need a turning lane when heading east and turning right onto North Cascade Rd. Traffic continuing east does not slow for those turning right.

I hold my breath every time I go through that stretch of road. Countless times I've had cars and semis pull out in front of me by the truck stop entrance. If I were a westbound semi driver, there is no way I would pull into that truck stop. It's taking your life and others into your hands every time you pull out.
