We go to school to get a better educTion and we go to High School to help prepare us for college. Everyday that we are in school is just one day closer we are to going to college. And Hightower does a very good job of that including having a block schedule. There are no 7classes a day in college, it's setup exactly how our block schedule is setup. Taking that away from us would not only take away our identity by being the only school in fortbend with a block schedule, but it would take away our preparation for college. It's not fair that the district gets to decide what goes on at our school because they aren't enrolled in our school. They don't know the everyday things that go on and how that would effect our everyday life. If anything every school in fortbend should be on the block schedule because it's better and prepares it's students for better. And besides, we've already made our class arrangements, now we have to change them because the district wants to take away a big part of Hightower? I don't think so. We say it's a great day to be a Hurricane, but if this change goes through then it wouldn't be so much of a great day at all. I know they wouldn't take our amazing academies away so don't take our amazing schedule away. Think about how this would effect the students and our school before making any drastic changes.

The academy has been a great contribution to Hightower and to fortbend itself. By implementing a 7 period schedule, we are depriving the academy kids with less time to gain experience in the hospitals. It would be a great dishonor to the academy kids. They did not sign up and work hard for this.

Block schedual allows for an extra course, intership opportunities, and gives the students opportunities to spend longer sessions in one class. As a student who has experienced both types of scheduals, I can confidently say the block schedual offers a better learning system.

Coming to Hightower, the block schedule was something that I was really looking forward to. It's a change and its a lot different than all the other high schools since they don't have block schedule. Not only that, but having the medical academy at Hightower alongside the magnificent internship program, you are given more time to spend in a class. You learn more, do more, and are more active with your learning capabilities. Having 4 classes a day also gives you the luxury of having less stress and focusing more on maintaining higher grades, GPA's, and ranks. It also enables you to focus more on extracurriculars as well as important exams like the SAT and the ACT. Hightower has had the block schedule for a long time running and there have been no problems with it until now for some reason. There will be more trouble changing it and everyone will have a tough time adjusting to it. Keep what has been working perfectly fine for more than 7 years. Don't change the block schedule, change the people who want to change Hightower.

How is taking away an oppurtunity for credit better? The block schedule is so advantageous to the students of Hightower Highschool. With the block schedule, students are able to excel in their classes, complete assignments, and gain a credit. The block schedule also gives athletes a chance to excel at their sports without losing credits. Without the block schedule, students like me who play club or are in time consuming activities will not obtain the same grades as they would in block schedule. If the 7 period day is in place many students won't be able to graduate and participate in two different activities such as volleyball and theatre because they are losing a whole period! I stress this immensely. Parents please get involved. Call the school! Don't let the school take away our oppurtunity to succeed.

The block schedule at HHS is one of the greatest features of our school for a number of reasons. First, the block schedule serves as a facilitator for students’ success, even after graduation. It prepares students for the style of college classes; Hightower graduates have a significantly smoother transition into college due to having already adapted to staying focused and attentive in long classes. Secondly, the block schedule provides for uninterrupted instruction which helps tie lessons and promotes understanding to a far greater degree than what could ever be achieved in a 7-period day. Furthermore, the 7-period day schedule is incompatible with the heralded internship opportunities that the HHS academies provide. The block schedule allows student interns to have the time to go out into the field and get hands on experiences and develop skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their careers. Hightower has great relationships with the Veteran's Affairs Hospital and M.D. Anderson and we have students learning and working alongside some of the world’s greatest experts and health care professionals at those hospitals and at other health care facilities in the Houston area. These students go on to attend some of the nation's most highly ranked universities and become great contributors to society upon graduation, earning various degrees such as PhD's, M.D's, DO's, DDS's, and so many other’s that hold great prestige and create lasting impacts on the lives and world around them through the work that these degree holders do. And this is not merely talk or speculation; At HHS, we have an entire hallway that has the faces of some of the Alumni who achieved their dreams and reached their goals because of Hightower High school as its wallpaper. This is all made possible by the existence of the block schedule. Aren't the core pillars of FBISD to "Inspire, Equip and Imagine"? If HHS begins operating on a 7-period schedule, the internship program would be killed an
