I love blocked schedule. It's easier for our work habits

Block schedule gives us more time to learn and finish assignments. 55 minutes in each class is not enough time to finish work. On top of that, we get w class taken away from us. That class could have been someones extra math or science class or just a class that they enjoy. Taking away block schedule has no ppositive side to it and it pointless. please leave it how it is.

At first I thought block scheduling wasn't for me . But I was wrong. Block scheduling is way better than regular scheduling. It gives students the chance to be proactive in finishing their assignments. It allows the students to have time to organize and finish up homework. I support block scheduling.

Academy student come from different districts and yet the students that are actually zoned to Hightower have to go through this change for them. How come they can't be in the academies at the schools they are zoned to?

Block schedule is so benefitial to our student body.It allows for students to balance their school work on the block schedule basis. We are allowed to recieve 90 minutes of instruction time every other day, and then we are able to fo things like Health Practicim, Media Internship, and Bio labs. Being a school with double academies, we are greatly impacted with our benefitial schedule. Students are adapted to the schedule, and a change would be hard. We are able to divulge in our classes due to our unique block days. It also allows us to pick up an extra class, which benefits us for college and to help keep our grades up.

Most of the people in this school district of FBISD, have no idea of how block schedule is important to our students, teachers, and the school itself. L.V Hightower High School was founded in 1998 and has kept it's block schedule for the past 17 years. I am just an ordinary freshman, who last year in 8th grade, was a part of a 7-period day schedule. It was a struggle, how I had to do use a locker for my classes. In this block schedule I encountered as a freshman, doing homework was easier because I had more time to complete the assignment. I also had the opportunity to do more class work, and had the opportunity to comprehend it more. In conclusion, I believe that we should maintain this block schedule, so that the students, teachers, staff, and even the whole school it can run as it has for the past 17 years. Since we have the right to have a say in what is going on, I believe that we should maintain block schedule.

Block schedules keeps the stress level down to a minimum. Why change something that's not broken?

Honestly, I feel as if the district did not even consider to think about how greatly the Block Schedule effect us STUDENTS. Many of us are obviously arguing that it gives us that "extra day" to catch up on work and I personally feel as if it does. It removes a lot of stress from me, when it comes to homework and it gives me an extra day to ask my teachers if I need help. Yes other schools have a regular schedule, but WE are complaining simply because we know how beneficial a Block Schedule is, those other school have not had the opportunity to try it out, and I believe if other schools were put on to a Blocked Schedule, Hightower students would not be the only ones arguing. Also, Mrs. West stated that a 7 period schedule would allow us to be in our core classes for 50 minutes each day verses 2-3 times a week, but she failed to mention that we still get about the same FOUR hours of classes per week, sometimes MORE on the block schedule. I don't get what is bad about that?! We also have the Medical and Digital Academies to consider as well as the Off Campus classes. What could you get done in 50 minutes verses almost 2 hours? Changing the way our schedules are set up creates MORE problems and it not only effect the students but the teachers as well. Change is nice, but in this case, change is bad. I STRONGLY support the idea that we REMAIN on a block schedule.

Block schedule gave hightower highschool a form of uniqueness throughout Fort Bend ISD. It gives procrastinators like me a chance to get caught up on our work. Since I have attended Hightower high school my grades have drastically increased. Taking out block schedule will not only take us out of our comfort zone but will only cause chaos in our school. We shouldn't need to petition the school to show that block schedule is important to the students here at Hightower high school. I hope that you come see your senses and see how important block schedule is to the students at Hightower .

Do we have any say so in our education at all ? Our schools teach us to make a difference in the world. However , they decide to change our school schedule without our consent . What are we , but just number to FBISD. 50 minutes for a class ? Really? Is that all the time we can get from our teachers on a daily . I guess 50 minutes is all where worth. But I strongly disagree.

Hightower works best and has been working best with it's blocked schedule for years. I see no need to try and change it now. That'll not only throw off students but faculty will have to put in as much more work than before. It's legitimately wrong and the fbisd board needs to reconsider.

This is my junior year at Hightower High School so for 3 years I have been brought up and became accusomed to the block schedule and for the district to want to take it away from me and ruin my senior year is very inconciderate. I feel like Hightower should stay at the block schedule because that is something all of the students have been through. I actually feel like more schools should be on block because longer class times are needed to get more done in a looser time period, homework as well as studying can be done every other day or for two days in a row and for those of us on teams with class periods more can be done during the school day to change clothes after only 30 minutes of instructional time. other schools don't have to change so why should Hightower?? The Cane Nation dose not want to be broken down into only 7 classes. Also what about off campus? Being that my Senior year is next year I can finally have off campus and because of my 1st period Color Guard class and everyday after school practice I only had the option of 5th period off campus, how am I supposed to have it now?? All the other classes of Hightower had off campuses for at least one of the four class periods offerd? So is there only two now? I feel like the district should be spending less time trying to demote Highgower and the academys it should find a way to better the lunch food, give us color printers. give us updated computers, new textbooks etc. Leave the schedule as it is and cut us a check so I can better my education please

Block scheduling has benefited the students of Hightower so much. Rather than just 50-55 minutes per class period, we get 90 min of class every other day. in these 90 minutes we have more time for tests, labs, class discussions, and comprehending our curriculum. We also have an extra day for homework and other assignments. Going back to a 7 period schedule will be a drastic change in how students will manage their time and scheduling. We're already usef to Block Scedule. Might as well keep it that way.

Block schedule is beneficial to us students in so many ways! Why take away those advantages and make it harder for the students?

45 minutes a class a day? That sounds barbaric to me. Before I enrolled to hightower, i loved my seven class a day schedule. It was'nt until i experienced just how much more you can get done on a block schedule, now I don't see how we can adjust back to that. How will class projects proceed to work in a timely manner? Backpacks will also be heavier considering that students have textbooks for certain classes, like many of my peers and I. With block schedule, we also have more time to actually interact and learn the lesson, rather than the class ending and all the students end up leaving confused. Even the teachers would benefit from block scheduling. With two seperate days where they teach the same lesson, it allows them more time to grade things and keep track of assignment due dates. Back at my old seven-class school, there would always be problems with teachers THINKING they gave our particular class period a worksheet or homework, just to find out our one period did not receive the assignment. I proceeded to ask her how did she end up forgetting, and she told me these exact words, "All these periods run together. You'll have to forgive me for messing up this time, with all the grading I had to do a few days ago to get all my seven classes test grades in, it ended up making me feel exhausted." How can the teachers give a correct and insightful lesson each day if their own schedule is exhausting them? If we had been on a block schedule, my teacher would have had a whole other day to grade, or at least one day to grade 4 periods instead of 7. Block scheduling is also what is used in college, so why not keep allowing us to be familiar with it? Why change something that is not broken?

Everything is changing and it's not beneficial at all. Block schedule is one of the very things that attracted me to this school. I am now a sophomore at this school and going back to a 7 class schedule is not good at all since I got used to this type of schedule. If anything it will just add more stress to my current stress levels. Sophomore year is already pretty challenging and staying up all night is the only way to get everything done. Junior year will be even more hectic and changing our schedule will cause a very negative affect on the performance of the school. Please keep this the same
