45 minutes a class a day? That sounds barbaric to me. Before I enrolled to hightower, i loved my seven class a day schedule. It was'nt until i experienced just how much more you can get done on a block schedule, now I don't see how we can adjust back to that. How will class projects proceed to work in a timely manner? Backpacks will also be heavier considering that students have textbooks for certain classes, like many of my peers and I. With block schedule, we also have more time to actually interact and learn the lesson, rather than the class ending and all the students end up leaving confused. Even the teachers would benefit from block scheduling. With two seperate days where they teach the same lesson, it allows them more time to grade things and keep track of assignment due dates. Back at my old seven-class school, there would always be problems with teachers THINKING they gave our particular class period a worksheet or homework, just to find out our one period did not receive the assignment. I proceeded to ask her how did she end up forgetting, and she told me these exact words, "All these periods run together. You'll have to forgive me for messing up this time, with all the grading I had to do a few days ago to get all my seven classes test grades in, it ended up making me feel exhausted." How can the teachers give a correct and insightful lesson each day if their own schedule is exhausting them? If we had been on a block schedule, my teacher would have had a whole other day to grade, or at least one day to grade 4 periods instead of 7. Block scheduling is also what is used in college, so why not keep allowing us to be familiar with it? Why change something that is not broken?

Hightower works best and has been working best with it's blocked schedule for years. I see no need to try and change it now. That'll not only throw off students but faculty will have to put in as much more work than before. It's legitimately wrong and the fbisd board needs to reconsider.

Going from 8 periods to 7 can only harm us, our student body count is already out of hand. our classes consist of almost 30 people sometimes, having 7 classes will not only increase that, but also take away from our one on one time with our teachers because there are so many students.

I love block schedule one reason is to not carry all of your heavy binders around for every class, second you have more time to do your homework or study for a test that is coming up.Block schedule has impact my school life so much and I barely be exhausted everyday when going home from school

Block schedule for Hightower is like a tradition. One shouldn't break it just because everything around them is changing. This is also one of the unique traits that Hightower has that separates it from every other school. Not only is Hightower home to two amazing academies, their sports teams are not to be messed with, and academics are exemplary. Hightower has very redeeming qualities, block schedule being one of them. Block schedule also gives incoming students a new, fresh mindset. They break from a drilling, and mind-numbing routine of attending the same classes every single day, doing work every night without rest. With block schedule, classes are twice as long, meaning more time to learn and comprehend the material. The time frame of attending classes give students ample opportunity to do their work, space out activities, as well as having a whole extra class to use to their advantage. Taking away block scheduling means removing certain academy classes from the schedule, mainly the internship program for the Medical Academy. With block scheduling, internship classes take two full 90-minute classes. This allows the interns to go to hospitals, make rotations throughout clinics, and shadow and intern under their desired mentors, all within those two classes. Without this convenient scheduling, those interns will be forced to go out of their way to take themselves to those hospitals. This creates inconvenience with the students life outside of school, and most students aren't independent enough to go by themselves, and may need assistance with transportation. This can also lead to the disruption of the assisting people's routine as well. With such restrictions, some students who deserve to be in the internship program cannot go through with it because the only thing holding them back is inconvenience of after school internship hours. Hightower is unique and amazing, and block schedule only adds to its charm. It greatly helps students with time management, and
