Hello fellow students of Heritage High School!
As you have probably heard, the HHS 2017 graduation has now been moved due to the Cappie Awards. Graduation is now on June 11th at 1pm inside the gym due to "extreme temperatures" instead of on June 11th at 7pm outside on the beautiful football field.
Why do we want the date changed? So we won't be robbed of an incredible and unforgettable graduation outside under the lights with our beloved family members watching us with tears in their eyes. Due to this change, they will now be standing in an overcrowded, stuffy gym.
Please sign the petition to help the Class of 2017 get the graduation it has worked so hard for and deserves. Thank you!

I have been reading your stories about how much that evening ceremony meant to your families and it is clear we all feel robbed of our moment. I am currently working to get a sit-down with the administration to explain why a crowded gym is not a fair replacement for the tradition we were promised.

Seeing this message gain so much ground proves that I am not the only one who refuses to let our graduation be relegated to a cramped gym. My classmates and I deserve the ceremony we earned on that field under the lights. This momentum shows that our memories matter.

I'd love for it to be outside, however, as a friend of many drama people, do not blame this on them... Sports has had the same special treatment... And everyone deserves to be at graduation, and not have to chose between two special events...
I am flying from Ca with my three children to see my niece graduate .... I do NOT want to be sitting in a separate room watching on a big screen ... That's ridiculous
Limiting families to 4 tickets to see their child graduate ... how does that help a family of more than 4. Does one parent have to sit outside with the other young children ... just cause it might be slightly warm outside??? The bigger problem is limiting the amount of people that can actually watch their child LIVE. Instead they have to sit in a classroom and watch it on TV. Why not move it to George Mason, like 80% of the High Schools in Loudon County.
Graduation should be outside like it is meant to be, unless weather conditions are extremely bad, which can't be predicted 1 year in advance. I didn't work my butt off for 12 years to have my family watch me graduate in an overcrowded gym. It has always been outside for as long as I've been at HHS. Let's spread the word and get this signed so we can Graduate under the sky and stars with our entire family watching.
First of all, none of the drama students had any say in the date switch. This was all the work of the administration, so don't blame them. Also Cappies is a special event for all involved in the spring musical, so don't be up in arms about it. But I second the idea of switching the date, but if that's not doable at least let us have it outside. No one wants graduation in the gym unless it's absolutely necessary. From what I've heard from my band director, is that there have been way worse years with heat, and we haven't had any of those in the last 3. Thank you.

We deserve to have a traditional graduation outside on the football field. The only reason it's been moved inside previous years is due to rain. A heat warning cannot be predicted a year in advance anyways. If Cappies is scheduled for the same day as graduation, then the graduation date should be changed, not the time and location.
