I recently joined the gym and have enjoyed the use of the Health Suite. I was not told on joining that I would be losing this facility.

The health suite should be included in the upgrade. Would be a great loss without..

In this modern day, we all live with internet, mobile phones , tablets and androids , video games and face book etc...... we are at the risk of loosing our social skills to a world of cyber space and technology.
When we look at a health club or gym surly its not all about pumping iron , its a place too for humans to be humans and become social while we get fit and look after our health.
I'm not suggesting that people have a good old gossip while they are exercising but the facilities out side our exercise routine can provide exactly what i'm getting at.
That is, the opportunity of having conversation with people face to face. Being social can help create a healthy life too you know.
The spar facilities at the Herons are great and allows friends and couples to meet and converse with one another after they have worked out or to use these facilities simply to go and unwind and relaxation .
Relaxation is health, so PLEASE be mindful of this and not just create another generic gym that closes us off from each other as human beings.
Having the facilities of a steam room and sauna together means much more than a head ache for the staff or of running cost .
I sincerely hope you re think the proposed plans for segregating the spa facilities and the reduction of the spa to only a sauna.

The loss of a health suite is wrong and fundamentally downgrades the facility

It seems that the planners and developers have no idea as to what is best for the Herons centre.

I have only recently taken out a full membership to the Herons. I only joined so I could use the swimming pool and the Jacuzzi and steam room. There would be no point in me having a membership to the Herons if the "Health suite" is removed!

If pay and display parking were to be introduced I would not renew my membership. The cost of parking should be included within membership

Sadly the Leisure Centre improvement program at Waverley does seem to result in a reduction of facilities that existing users value highly. The £5million New Leisure Centre in Godalming does not cater for the needs of the local Squash Players ( who now have to travel twelve miles ( 24 mile round trip) to reach alternative Waverley facilities and now it seems that users in Haslemere risk suffering the loss of the Health Suite if they cannot get the plans changed in the next few days. Of course the council is keen to progress this on the published timescale, and changed will lead to delay. I know from experience how much effort needs to be put in to actually influence the planned out roadmap. Or Rather I don't as we were unable to get a Gamecourt included in the new leisure centre building ( which wold have allowed for Badminton, Squash and a host of other activities, and we were unable to Save the old courts from Demolition. They may not have been the smartest courts in Surrey but they were the only ones in Godalming.

please keep the sauna the way that it is. It is the only reason I go to the Herons, and have been doing so for over 5 years. I live in Farnham but drive to Haslemere because it is mixed gender. My husband and I have been going together for a very long time

It seems to me that the council want to get rid of the Health Suite as they find it an inconvenience. It is not cleaned enough as it is, the steam room only works intermittently and the button on the jacuzzi does not work very well with no efforts lately to fix any of these problems, it leads me to believe they just want rid of it regardless of what the members actually want.
