(Note: Agenda Item 6 may take a while to get to, so plan accordingly. I have an email in with the city for an estimate of when this is likely to be brought up and will post if I hear)

It's time for new lighting on the tennis courts. We don't have many public courts available and the courts that we do have are lacking. The lighting and maintenance needs to improve.

The tennis court lights are very poor and for a city as afluent as Hermosa is it doesn't show well for the residents. Could sell the bulbs at a discount to offset the cost of getting proper bulbs installed.

I live on 11th St and the lights are bright all during the Spring and Summer and light up our block too. I am sure the residents in the houses attached to the park would like to have the lights updated.

whoever designed the tennis court lighting on courts 5 and 6 needs to go play tennis on them and see for themselves how badly designed they are.

As a former Hermosa Beach Little League Board Member (2008-2010), parent of a former League player and neighbor of Clark Field, I support this petition to upgrade and/or implement new and/or improved lighting to all play areas and common areas listed above, but to also include the parking lots of and pedestrian thoroughfares of Clark Field. I support this to also insure that the neighbors adjacent to the facilities are not affected with glaring light and that care be taken to keep light on the field - and not shining into a home or neighborhood. The HBLL has been raising money and paying for upgrades to the fields for many years with some support by the City of Hermosa Beach. Not only is this is a tremendous expense and fundraising burden to place on the volunteer/parent driven Little League, it requires lighting technicians and designers to work with the City to insure maximum efficiency who also utilizes the field for additional parks and recs activities, such as mens softball and other sports programs.

Question, who pays for this new lighting? If it's the taxpayer then I'm in favor only if we don't have to pay E&B oil 17.5 million dollars.

The lights on the South Field prohibit playing any night games, the light on the other fields are sub standard and are safety risks.

I used to be in the sports lighting business and I can guarantee the new technology of lighting will make the players of all the sports delighted with how improved the lighting levels will be. The current lighting is an absolute joke and the city always chooses to spend their limited resources on other things. I have been trying to get new lights for the last twelve years! The neighborhood will also love the greatly reduced light spill and glare compared to the current "light pollution" that is now being throwing off.

The tennis court lighting quality is poor for all eight courts making recreational play difficult at best.

Lighting at the tennis courts is poor enough to be unsafe, and definitely ineffective, e.g. the lights are not even aimed at the inside play area of each court.
