Heritage Listing | St George Church Rose Bay

The Parthenon is a heritage building, this is not.

I dont believe the building is architecturally and historically significant enough to be listed as heritage item

The Church should be allow to protect its own heritage

Please do not place the church of St George Rose Bay under any heritage list.

I love my parish church. My family has had a long history with it - starting from the days of fundraising for it, then continuing in the administration of it to this current day - but heritage listing is inappropriate and unjustified for a structure built just over 60 years ago.

This Church is not on the classic design of Byzantine Architecture which is traditional to Greek Orthodox Churches. The Parish has worked hard to build activities and acquire adjacent properties for Religious use and aged care into the future. To Heritage list it is incongruous as further works to enlarge the Church for a growing Congregation and its Commmunity activities are in the planning stages. I sterongly oppose the proposal not only as a Parishioner but also as a former Councillor and Mayor of Woollahra

This building is definitely not a heritage building.

Please leave things as they are. The priest knows what is best.

I feel the church does need the freedom to develop in accordance with its community needs. I have confidence any development will be done thoughtfully

Not to be heritage listed , how ridiculous 1962 building , another revenue collection for council a big no from me …

This has been the parish of my family for generations since it was. built in 1962. My grandfather was instrumental in organising it's construction. Yet it is the wishes of myself and my family that it NOT be heritage listed.

We are totally against the heritage listing.

My family has had an association with St George Church for over 50 years. While the building holds a special place in our hearts. I fail to understand how the building can be considered to be heritage listed as it has no unique building features are unique to the area or from an architectural perspective. I urge you to reconsider the listing given the impact, both financial and otherwise, it will have on the parish.

This church is not a church that fits the heritage listed criteria. Furthermore, this impedes future plans for the church and parish community.

I agree that a church is building - and - that it serves a purpose that may vary overtime, subject to the needs of the people it serves. As such, a heritage order to preserve a building of little to No heritage value would in my opinion constitute a dereliction of the mission of any church to its parishioners - to serve the needs of people at a given point in time. The idea that development of a society can be stopped by a heritage order is nonsensical at best, akin to human attempts to control nature - try as we might, nature will ultimately prevail. Furthermore, freedom to pivot to serve the parish best at a future point in time, is an important consideration. Interestingly, at a time of and AUS rental and housing crisis, it has occurred to me that heritage orders are a negative tool used by administrations serving little purpose if any, other than to hinder natural progress, or to complicate what should be a simple process. PS the church as always been ugly in my personal view as a building, yet beautiful to experience based on the services facilitated ie this should not preclude redesign within the permissible DA & CC framework - there is no heritage value… let’s be honest about this fact.
