Whereas Rastafari regards the herb/hemp/marijuana/cannabis as sacred,
And whereas the herb forms part of the religious/spiritual observance and practise of the Rastafari Community,
And whereas the constitution of St. Christopher and Nevis guarantees the right to freedom of religious observance and practise,
And whereas increasingly, scientific evidence points to the medicinal therapeutic and practical benefits of herb/hemp/marijuana/cannabis,
And whereas herb/hemp/marijuana/cannabis is being used extensively in the treatment of several diseases and ailments,
And whereas evidence in those countries where legalisation /decriminalisation has been introduced points to a decrease in hard drug usage, crime and violence,
And whereas there is acknowledged widespread and in increasing use of herb/marijuana/hemp/cannabis in St. Kitts and Nevis.
And whereas evidence in those countries where legalisation /decriminalisation has shown billions of dollars in profit from the sale of herb/marijuana/cannabis thus boosting the economies and benefiting from the financial gains.
And whereas some of our neighbours and member state has taken steps to tolerate and decriminalise possession of small amounts of the herb/marijuana/cannabis.
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED,
Hereby petition the Government of St. Christopher and Nevis to give immediate and due consideration to the question of herb/marijuana/hemp/cannabis and the immense suffering that the present laws have inflected on a wide cross section of our society and to effect the legalisation of this God made plant.

The herb is sacred to our way of life and our spiritual practice cannot be ignored by those in authority any longer. I am spending my days meeting with community leaders to ensure our path forward remains clear and rooted in the truth of our traditions.

Seeing this movement grow reminds me of how deep our spiritual connection to the herb truly runs. It is heartening to see so many people recognize that our fundamental right to religious observance must be respected.

On the third day God created marijuana, read the bible. As someone who works in the medical marijuana industry I can confirm and state that I have witnessed many patients heal, cope and benefit from marijuana. This wonderful plant is medicinal in its nature and should be legalized in all forms. The sheer discrimination of the Rastafarian community regarding herb usage is a disgrace. Marijuana is known to kill certain cancer cells, help with PTSD, nerve pain, inflammation, stress, insomnia, Fibromyalgia, certain degenerative disorders and epilepsy. The list goes on and on... decriminalize marijuana!!! We should be promoting flowers not Opioids!!
I am in total support of the decriminalization of the herb. It must be nonsense to have people branded as criminals for use of weed in Nevis when many states in the USA have taken steps to end this injustice.
Legalized it.
Cannabis is the alkaline food for the belly and brain! It's legal as far as I'm concerned! One love..
Whereas, it's a waste of community resources to prosecute posession cases.
Weed must legalize its about time
More and more evidence is being compiled to prove that this vital plant does and will heal all nations.

I could speak on a million reasons why marijuana is good for the federation amma just leave 1...I been shot I have a spinal injury that causes me pain pills do not work good with my system I also have a leg that's bin broken badly and full of metal right now I can not take pain pills as result my doctor in Cuba prescribed medical marijuana for me I told him where am from its ilegal am say even if u don't legalize it decriminalize it at least :)
