I wholeheartedly support your plans and hope that local interests start to see sense. It will indeed be a good asset for the area.

This railway must be allowed to progress for the benefit of Cornwall. The County Council (and a few members of the public) sadly lack any ambition with regard to the future of the county.

One of the biggest industries in the South West is tourism. The local Parish Council should embrace the chance to increase employment and income in this area.

Cornwall survives on Tourism, surely this is something else to encourage visitors to come to the county and spend money. Good Luck Helston Railway and all the volenteers that work so hard.

Failure to support this project shows the same anti-railway mindset that led to so many closures over the years. If people are prepared to use their time, effort, skills, money etc., trying to recreate something that could benefit many, why stand in their way? Throughout Britain, heritage railways provide employment, encourage tourism and, in some cases, provide a useful transport link. It has been prove, time after time, that people visiting heritage railways spend money in the local area. Food, travel and accommodation expenses all benefit the local community and any council that is happy to turn all that away, should not be in office.
A venture such as this should be actively encouraged and helped in any way possible, not hindered by petty bureaucrats. I wonder how many members of the Parish Council have visited the railway to see what it's all about. Maybe they are perfectly happy to see tourists flocking to the other heritage railways in the vicinity, rather than visiting their area, having a meal, spending the night, filling-up with fuel etc. I wonder how many local business owners have watched the crowds at the other lines as they fill the pubs between trains.
Any decision, which stands in the way of a visitor-magnet such as this, needs reconsidered - at the very least.

The railway's proposals will not unduly affect the surrounding environment but will encourage economic potential. The Parish Council's view reflects concerns initially shown in many places elsewhere in the UK and which in virtually all cases have ultimately proved unfounded.

Please allow these planning permissions. Any tourist development would greatly assist the local community in may ways.
