Heritage railways make a significant contribution to local communities, through income spent, bringing visitors to the area who spend money in the area. In addtion a heritage railway is a place where people young and old can gain new skills. This railway is no exception. For these reasons I support the Helston Railway. They have made tremendous progress the past 10 years. The council really should reconsider their stance.

Preservation railways bring in lots of tourism and benifit local buisness`s. Give these people a break they are passionate about were they live and giving something that the community will be proud of.

West Cornwall needs projects like this. Heritage railways in other areas bring in much needed trade from visitors. Build it and they will come!

How sad that the parish council have recommended a refusal of planning for this lovely local tourist project.
Their decision seems to ignore the hours and hours of hard work put into this railway by a team of small but very dedicated volunteers. We do hope that the council will re-consider this

Knowing Cornwall as I do and this particular project needs the go ahead, simply the council needs to regain its sight and stop being blind to all that can improve Cornwall and attract tourists

Excellent idea. I now live in Haderslev in Denmark, and the old railway line has recently been brought back into use for vintage train running. It's brought tourists and money into the area and I'm sure this will also happen in Helston.

The Helston Railway can be a tourist attraction and has the potential to bring many visitors to the area, this can only be a good thing for the local economy.
It will never be a 'big' railway so the likely disturbance to the neighbours will be minimal and any disturbance will be well managed.

Initiatives which will encourage tourism and job creation to this part of Cornwall need to be encouraged.

I feel that the Helston railway should be entirely supported in both of these planning applications. The society needs a base from which to expand, by expanding the railway will create jobs and generate tourism. This in itself will help other local business's. Overall the efforts of the volunteers are to be applauded and supported by the local community.

Nimbyism??? I do hope not, the obvious benefits for the local economy and the enjoyment this application would bring to many people.
