Railways are good for tourists and Local Business in the area.

It is imperative that these steam railways are preserved for younger generations to appreciate a form of public transport that has passed and to provide a tourist attraction in an area that is a holiday destination

The benefits to the local economy of a Heitage Railway have been demonstrated nationally for decades. The area is fortunate to have such a valued economic generating attraction and supporting its development is the most logical approach.

One doesn't have to look far to find tangible proof of the benefits which a thriving heritage railway can bring to a community: jobs, tourist £s, improved transport infrastructure, education, etc. The Helston Railway is a small organisation at present but it has already received national recognition by the Heritage Railway Association for the quality of its work. It is disappointing that the Parish Council's submission to Cornwall Council contains discrepancies which could be resolved through proper dialogue with the railway. I hope the Parish Council will recognise the railway's desire to work with its neighbours, and find a mutually acceptable way for the railway to progress its worthy long-term aims.

I support the application as it will help support the local economy

I very much support the railway's aims. As shown by other heritage railways, the re opened route can add to tourism, a worthwhile transport link and can give a positive economic boost to the area.

I think this is a very worthwhile project. The heritage railway is a proven tourism-booster and it would be sad for part of Cornwall's history to not be brought back. I believe the Society is doing a brilliant job and should be facilitated whenever possible.

I think that we need more railways such as the Helston railway

I cannot understand why such a worthwhile and valued local project does not get the full backing of both local and county councils. It not only brings much needed tourism and revenue to both the railway and local economy but also is such an educational project. To sustain the project it must be allowed to grow.

With the decline of so much industry and infrastructure we have to look to the future and the railway restoration provides another piece of the jigsaw in keeping with historic gardens, mining etc.

I live in Sussex, the home of one of the first and oldest preserved railway in England, The Bluebell railway. It is a jewel in the Sussex crown. The Helston Railway could one day become the same for Kernow if it is allowed to flourish. It is essential for this planing to be approved to restore a vital piece of Cornish history.

I beleave as much of the rail that can be built should be built! i beleave the location i visited in summer would make for ace cafe, gift shop and parking!! locals have got to remember the railway was about years before them!! and cornish survives on a whole from tourist attractions!!

Heritage railways in other parts of the country have been shown to bring benefits to local communities by attracting additional tourist income. The Helston Railway should be encouraged to expand and develop to allow residents in this part of Cornwall to benefit from this as well as catering for the ambitions of the railway's supporters.

Cornwall is a tourist focussed county and heritage railways are known tourist attractions bringing visitors and their spending power to the area around the railway.

Cornwall's principal industry is now tourism anything to help that industry can only be of benefit to the local economy. The Helston Railway will provide education as well as recreation for locals as well as visitors.

Council think again and be pro-active towards increasing tourism in your area.
