The Swanage Railway in Purbeck is a good example of a similar railway which has been reopened and now brings tourists and vitality to an area which could have slowly declined. It is incredible that a few individuals on a parish council could wish to deny local people a potentially wonderful asset. I just hope Cornwall Council will see differently and support the planning applications.

It appears to be very short sighted by the Parish Council. From experience some of these councils do not know what they are doing.

Please allow the planning permissions the Helston Railway needs to continue its exciting story and bring tourists to visit.

Its about time these Councillors actually did their jobs and listened to the people they are supposed to represent and actually do what is best for Cornwall and not for their pockets and street cred!

My wife and I always visit the Helston Railway when we holiday in Cornwall. We have watched its development , and been glad to see the progress made and the long track length achieved.
We were disappointed when we learned that the hard work carried out to build the platform at Trevarno would be in vain when the Trevarno Gardens changed ownership, but we were glad to learn that another platform site was being located to the north.
The Helston Railway is a major reason why we have travelled from Leicestershire to The Lizard for many years, and we hope to continue doing so. We also hope that the Parish and County Councils will fully support this laudable enterprise which will surely attract many more visitors to your beautiful County if it is allowed to expand and prosper over the coming years. You don't have to look far to see what can be achieved, (Bodmin, Paignton and Totnes all have thriving, visitor attracting tourist railways). You should maybe look to attracting visitors yourselves instead of attempting to stifle the efforts of the Helston Railway volunteers!
I do hope the County and Helston Town Councils will fully support this excellent group of railway restorers

If it creates jobs and supports local business through tourism then it should be good for the area.

I can't see what objections there can be to a scheme that can only help the local economy
people need railways more than politicians
