The Helston Railway will be the most southernly railway in the country.
By passing these planning applications , it will allow the H.R.P.S. to provide a better and friendly service to the many railway enthusiasts from all over the world.
At the same time , it will bring in much needed revenue from the visitors with the hope that they will return again & again bringing with them more visitors.

This, inland, part of Cornwall has a small number of tourist businesses which struggle to attract people, to oppose this which would be an extra attraction seems perverse.

In all other places, heritage railways are viewed as a way to get traffic off local roads and to encourage tourists to engage and soend money in the local community.

The Helston railway could so easily be a tourist attraction bringing in money to the this area of the country. Yet again local NIMBYists think only of their own dinosaur-pro-road/anti-rail insensibilities. If someone wanted to build and promote a heritage railway near me I'd be out helping on my days off not complaining about it. It is so sad that the negative anti-rail sentiment which was so popular in the 1960s and 1970s is still prevalent. There is a very deviant sub-culture at work in the UK which, it seems by appearances, want the Ernest Marples dream of a road dominated hell to live on. Bringing a heritage railway to this area of the country would bring jobs for those younger generations not fortunate to living in nice cosy bungalows and converted cottages and living off post-retirement nest eggs.

If only people could take more interest in railways these days. I don't think people realise what a lot the railways did for everyone in the old days, it's just a shame that the're gone. This attraction needs all the help they can get.

Panning permissions which impinge on disused railway routes deny the community the opportunity to benefit in the long term from a vital tourist attraction. Look at the examples set by the Llangonen Railway and the Seven Valley Railway!!! Each of these projects started from small beginnings but massively benefitted the area in the long run.

This is history recreated. The arguments put forward by the opponents on their PACT website would have us believe that mass countryside destruction will take place and a huge industrial estate is being created! Keep up the great work and lets hope the appeal goes in your favour.

What planet do these Councillors live on? Do they not understand:
a) The tourism element bringing in extra people and money to the local area.
b) The eventual re-instatement of a transport link lost many years ago.
c) Many local councils are now getting behind schemes to restore lost rail links - whether ir be heritage or national rail schemes.

I urge approval to both planning applications. It is known that Heritage Railways in other parts of the County and the Country bring economic advantages to the local community. Helston and West Cornwall would be no exception, provided the Helston Railway is allowed to develop its scheme.
