The school board finally folded and committed to slashing those outrageous wait times for assessments. They have no choice but to provide these kids the support they deserve now. We forced their hand and won.

When I was in grade nine, my guidance counsellor told me that if I wanted a psychological assessment my family could pay 2000 dollars to get it done or get it done through the school board for free. However, I would not receive my diagnosis until around grade 12 because the waiting list is so long. School boards need to recognise that many children with learning impairments go undiagnosed and cannot afford a psychological assessment.

The school board is finally seeing that families are sick of waiting years for basic help. This surge in support proves they cannot continue to ignore these children any longer.

This petition is important to a LOT of people. I just want whomever this goes to to know that if I had the ability to get an assessment of myself done, I would. However that's just not financially possible. I don't want kids to have to wait to know something that can define them as a person. This needs to change, and I want to know what all of you are going to do to help.

Its too late to wait until grade 12 to be assessed .The sooner the evaluation the better. Children have a better chance to cope and get help

As someone who personally knows multiple people with ADHD this needs more coverage and help.

I was in the exact same situation as you a few years ago and as nice as it feels that you have a diagnosis, it feels just as terrible to know that there are other less fortunate kids who are suffering and not getting the help they need.

Had the same situation with my son in grade 9. My heart goes out to families that don't have the ability to get out side testing. The system is broken and needs to be fixed.

I totally agree with you. It is so unfortunate that this is still happening.
