No municipal animal facility should look like this. This is abominable! This is a bunch of boxes and tin that were thrown together. And you have NO personnel to clean cages and feed the animals? And if the volunteers were not there, who would check on their welfare. This is not acceptable on any level. I am surprised that no one has taken legal action against the city of Hempstead yet.

There needs to be a change in this situation. There are offers of help but access must be allowed to improve the quality of the lives of the dogs. The elected city officials must be willing to allow and accept help from outside resources. Stray or not no animal deserves this as a life. Please do the right thing and make a change.
