They ALL have earned and worked hard for this day, decoration on a chair will only amplify the meaning to a special day.

Please let this class honor their classmate. It's another way to cope with their loss. They will never forget her and it's not hurting anyone to do this.

There have been other WHS students who have passed away and the school has allowed the same and other very similar displays. Let the students honor their friends memory. Let the parents be able to participate and be included in an event that might bring them a little bit of solace. I’ve always been a proud alumni of WHS but this is ridiculous. Shame on you WHS.

Let these kids remember and celebrate their friend. Your arguments are arbitrary and capricious - just do it!

The loss of a friend isn't an easy one to let go of, even more so with something big that was going to be celebrated together. Allowing the students to do this is allowing them to make sure the family knows they can turn to anyone in this graduating class and ask for help as well as the school board shows a bit more tolerance for change and social awareness.

It’s hard on students at this age as well as any age to lose a friend or loved one. The administration should be supportive of the way their students are pulling together to do something that will honor their fellow classmate. Just imagine if you were in the students position.

This should be allowed and the school administration is heartless and making excuses to keep this from happening none of the events are harmful or dangerous

I can’t imagine losing a friend at that age. I hope y’all get to remember her and make her a part of graduation as she should be.

This is not a safety concern by decorating her chair. The protocol should be to drape her gown and place flowers there honoring her. There should also be a moment of silence in the ceremony for her. A pin that is on everyone’s gown is also not going to harm or do anything. I’m so sorry to hear this has to even be an issue for family and friends. I pray that everyone does the right thing. My sister has been given the opportunity to walk during the ceremony to receive my nieces diploma. I’m thankful the school has the right mind to think about others rather then reading a rule about situations like this and not caring about what that family and class would like to do.

Ashley passed away before she was able to graduate, and I cant begin to imagine how difficult that day is going to be for her family, friends and classmates. Instead of worrying that the ceremony will be “all about her”, try to consider the fact that every other student there IS graduating and celebrating. Ashley doesn’t get to walk across the stage, but she deserves to be recognized and she deserves a chair. If there is ever a time for an exception, this is it.

It's sad that honoring a student with thoughtful and simple gestures of love and respect are being blocked by the administration. I hope the student body prevails in honoring their class mate.

I graduated with her older sister. I think it is only right to hold a seat for her. Also I wore a lily on my gown for my late grandmother but my mom pinned it on me last minute and got away with it. Please WHS let those who want to do this do this. You don't have to force others to... just feel with your hearts.
