As the parent of a student who is graduating from Warrensburg High School this may, I wholeheartedly stand behind our students and their desire to commemorate the loss of one of their own. Recent events have certainly shown us that today's teenagers are far more world aware and compassionate and deserve our respect and attention.

When our son graduated from Rogersville there were 2 empty seats for students who had passed. If a school is doing a good job the students become family. When that happens and one is lost, the students have a need to remember them at this special moment in their life’s. It is a moment of moving forward and by recognizing the loved one that was lost it is healing. As for the pins...I see nothing wrong with a small pin, worn in the same place, making it a united statement. For the parents of the loved one these 2 simple, safe and strong statements of recognition, is a small thing that the school can do to give the parents a feeling of community support and love. I do believe if these 2 things are not allowed at graduation it will show poorly on the Warrensburg school system.

small Orange pins and a decorated chair is a small courteous gesture in memor of their friend and fellow classmate. This was a huge loss and life changing event for these students. Honor THEM!

This is sad and disgraceful if they do not let them decorate a chair and put pins on their gowns... May Ashleys memory live on in all of us.
