Help WHS Remember Ashley Simons

Let these young adults honor their classmate.

I support this small act to quietly, but visibly honor their classmate that is gone far too soon.

My best friend passed away in highschool. We had an empty chair with a quilt we all signed on it. His name was called and a moment of silence followed. What harm is it to give her memory a light at the graduation. It isn't about any one student. It is about all of them. It hurts my heart to hear that a school wouldn't allow a classmate to be honored.

I lost my nephew when he was 15. At what would have been his high school graduation his classmates did the same thing. They had an empty chair in honor of him and it meant so much to everyone. What possible reason could they have to deny such a small request.

Please let her classmates honor her memory.

I can think of NO valid reason to deny this to the class.

What is the reason for not allowing recognition of this student? I can't think of any, except cold hearts and power trips from administration.

My son died at age 9 and his graduating class of 2014 honored him at their high school graduation with an empty seat with a cap and gown on it and I can't express how much that meant to us as parents. His classmates never forgot him and it was a simple act that was greatly appreciated.

Time to have a heart and step away from the institutional thought process. Take a vote of the graduating class, let them decide what they want, as this ceremony is about them, this I am sure of. Do what is right, and the human thing to do!

People heal in different ways. Simple honorable request, do the right thing.

I wished we could have done something like this. When my best friend died befroe graduation. It would mean a lot. The school to to show change. I know they remodeled it but the staff needs to change.

This administration should be ashamed of themselves for not letting these students remember their friend.

Support the pen or even a bow

The class before me was allowed to leave a seat open for a student who past away. These are impressionable young minds who need to see that their friend mattered.

Everyone deserves a right to grieve.

It sadness me, WHS won’t allow this. As a former graduate from WHS, I pray you do the right thing.

Please allow the students to honor their classmate.

Just because “it’s a safety concern” doesn’t mean anything. She was, is a human being that deserves everything that the rest of us have, living or dead.
