Since September 2017, the level of crime in the Los Feliz area has sky rocketed. In the past two months, there have been numerous home burglaries sometimes committed by the same group. LAPD has been provided with an incredible amount of evidence, including, video footage, fingerprints, photos, etc. of the assailants and getaway car. The city leaders discount these crimes as being merely “property crimes” and provide little or no resources to the investigations. Accordingly, LAPD hands are somewhat tied. Our Senior Lead Officer has been on disability leave for several months now. We need to speak up and ask that someone new be appointed to our area who can take care of things. The emotional and psychological damage and fear caused by burglaries and other property crimes can be more devastating than losing just material possessions. It is no longer acceptable or tolerable to have our Los Feliz homes and neighborhoods under attack by these criminals! It is time for all of us to speak up and speak out!! Yesterday, we started making telephone calls to Ryu’s office and then Mayor Garcetti’s office to voice our concerns and demand the protections that all of us as citizens deserve and work so hard for. No one has returned our phone calls yet. That is why we need everyone to please join us in calling the city/political officials and voicing our concerns and demand action. David Ryu’s Office: (323) 957-6415 or (213) 473-7004 Mayor Garcetti’s Office: (213) 978-0600

The lack of response from city officials remains concerning as our neighborhood continues to face these security challenges. Your shared stories confirm that the impact of these crimes goes far beyond the loss of personal property.

The momentum behind this petition highlights the growing frustration regarding the safety of our neighborhood. It is clear that the current lack of responsiveness from city officials is no longer acceptable to our community.

Have lived in the Los Feliz Hills for 30 years and have never witnessed the amount of crime as we have in the past year. Our cars in front of our home have been broken into. Nearby homes have been the target of robberies and burglaries. I haven’t seen any police cars around. This is just intolerable! Please assign more frequent police patrols. After all what is our police department for?

I was robbed of 3 generations of jewelry, worth $160,000. That is NOT " petty property crime." Our area is obvoiusly being targeted as they've learned there is no response.

Need our safety back!! Our home got broken into 3 times in 2017. More petroling needed and residency parking only on our streets.

We moved here to raise our son BECAUSE it was a safe haven in which to live - yet near all the great things LA has to offer. We now have installed cameras everywhere and constantly are looking over our shoulders. In 2000 when we moved here our neighbors said "It's so safe up here - we don't even lock our doors" - sad to say that's no longer the case...

The crime has gotten out of control. We need to make serious changes including making some streets one way, limiting on street parking, gating some streets, getting the police to actually patrol, getting council members to actually DO THEIR JOBS and be diligent as neighbors to watch. But first and foremost, we need a police presence in our neighborhoods!

Burglaries have increased. The police do very little, citing too many cases to handle. My house was burglarized. I lost a fortune. There were definite leads that were very very slowly considered; and not energetically and/ or even addressed or followed. My experience was treated as a mere statistic. No solutions have been sought or addressed by our law enforcement authorities.

Yes, something needs to be done quickly. Los Feliz was once a very safe place to live.
