Both of our girls graduated from Stroudsburg and were very active in all music groups starting in 4th and 5th grade. One is now a music teacher and the other will be graduating with a music degree. Stroudsburg has an incredible program with incredible staff.... don't ruin it. Marina & Jim Maroney

Music is an important part of a child's life. There has got to be other ways to reduce cost in our district. Let's start with the solicitor

Please reconsider your decision. The Stroudsburg Music Program is one of the reasons we are the Pride of the Poconos! This decision will have a lasting impact.

This is heartbreaking. Stroudsburg School District has always enjoyed an outstanding reputation for having a quality music program. As a former band director I can say that the current situation is doomed to fail and is an insult to the students. It appears to be no more than a feeble attempt to be able to say the program is still being offered, but not really affording the students the quality which they truly need to succeed.

You know the important of music. Do not deny Stroudsburg students the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument! We need an additional 5th grade band instructor.

Please hire music teacher!! Kids need well rounded education, not just academics. Kids less likely to get into trouble when involved in music and sports. Please reconsider! Thank you.

Our kids need another teacher, three of my children play the violin and they enjoy it. These kids work hard and deserve another dedicated teacher to help them reach their fullest potential.

Beginning musicians need to be nourished. That cannot happen with 20 children in a class for group instruction! If they don't get the encouragement they need need they will get frustrated and quit. Lets do what is best for our children and hire another teacher so they can get the best music education possible!

Music is a must! Have always been proud of the SASD music program. It starts in the lower grades as a feeder system. We need to support it!

When building a house one must always start with a firm and strong foundation. Learning to play an instrument works in the same way. A beginning student must start with the basics and build skill upon skill just as with any other STEAM class they may be taking. Playing an instrument can build confidence and boost brain power. But 20 children in a lesson will not be able to learn what they need to know because the teacher will never be able to give each student the individual attention they need to master the basics. How truly frustrating for the students and the teacher. And how shameful. The Stroudsburg School District music program has a long and rich history of producing scholars and leaders as well as many truly amazing musicians. But it did not and cannot happen with 20 students to one teacher in a lesson. What a shame it would be to let our amazing music program fall apart from the bottom up because we could not make sure the students had a great start in building the foundation of a skill that can last a lifetime. Please don't fail our 5th graders.

I live in the district and I support an additional instrumental music teacher at the middle school level. Smaller lesson groups are important to successful learning at the beginning level. Please support the history of excellence in music education which is a long tradition in the district. Your student musicians learn skills that make them student leaders.

The Stroudsburg music program has produced amazing, talented, educated individuals who have done wonderful things out in the world. WE have tremendous pride in these programs and they should have the full support of the school board!
