Insurance companies should not determine or be the sole gatekeeper of care. Give that power back to the doctors who swore oaths to help and serve the unwell. Ensure that the money being paid into insurance actually covers medical issues! It's time to change. It's time to heal!

Insurance companies should not be making medical decisions for patients. The patient’s attending physician should have the final decision on treatment.

Also, there should be a time limit for when insurance companies can try to collect payment. Coming at you for payment after one year is ridiculous.

Absolutely! This should be a federal law. Only your own doctor should be able to determine what medical care is appropriate for you, not some doctor who couldn’t cut it as a real physician and resorted to being an insurance hack.

I have a 15 year old son with severe special needs. We have been denied essential things by doctors who only see info on paper. It’s ridiculous, sad and disgusting.

I remember when Erie let me get down to 90lbs my body shutting down… Cleveland after one appointment and lots of blood work and prior Erie testing determined I needed surgery right away. My insurance denied it not once but twice and 2 days before my surgery after my surgeon calling them telling them if I didn’t have this surgery I would die and it would be because of them did they finally approve it. And it’s not like that has changed… I’ve had to appeal almost every thing I need to make sure I am getting the best treatment!

Healthcare needs to care for the health of our patients - a therapist who cares

I always explain the UHC denials to patients like this: The doctor you see in the flesh really isn’t your doctor. YOUR doctor is the unnamed medical director on the phone who is telling your local doctor what care and coverage s/he thinks you deserve.

Insurance should not be able to over rule the Provider taking care if the patient. PERIOD.

Working in healthcare, we see this every day. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see people get denied the care that is in their best interest.

To refuse any child would be a gross negligence.
