Help stop the DCDSB from moving our grade 7-8 Students to High School

Outrageous!

It's not about the kids-it's about filling a school.

I think its important to keep the younger kids together and this switxh will push people to move to the public system

Probably already a done deal. Not considering the students.

I do not support this move at all. Interaction WILL take place between older and younger youth. My daughter would be 11 yrs old if she transferred next year. The DDCSB (a Catholic, yes Catholic board) wants her to go to school with 17 yr old boys..... How is this even an option?

I am totally against this debacle of an idea!

This plan is unacceptable and puts these young children at risk. Exposing them to a high school environment with drugs and sexual activity is not okay.

This is a decision that needs to be inverstigated thoroughly and not a back door deal with the board. This is in response to acquiring funding for additional high schools in the area and falsely make the current school numbers look inflated with no regard for children and the impact it may have on them.

Do not move these schools!!! Many Students in this area!!! We don't need any more housing development!!!! This is a safe neighbourhood and continues to grow with families with young children enetering these neighbourhoods!!!

This should not happen. Elementary should be kept kindergarten-8 and high school 9-12. Mixing the 2 will not end up good.

Leave our elementary student with there elementary peers. Our children are already exposed to enough, sending them to a high school atmosphere is only asking for trouble.

I was shocked when I was explained what the Catholic school board was proposing! Our grade 7 and 8 students need time in an elementary school to develop like children! How many other schools will close, to build this school? How many other children will be displaced out of their school areas, and made to travel? My understanding is, the government will not fund another high school, because all the Catholic high schools in Whitby are not filled. There is no funding is for a reason, we don't need it! My tax dollars will not be spent wisely! I do not support this change in schools!

Absolutely not acceptable. I drive my children to grade school and in doing so witness and smell the high school students we pass smoking marijuana on the street. I am formulating an email to the principal as we speak.

We do not support this solution, if we can even call it that- this is totally short sighted with the goal to get funding so that a third high school can then open, and then all three will be under capacity a year later. This fix will have a domino effect by reducing elementary schools capacities too, and in the end elementary schools will likely need to be closed, boundaries will have to be change, and we will be bussing little kids as well. For so many reasons, we would be pulling our kids out of the catholic board, should the board decide to proceed with moving the grade 7,8 to high school.
