SAVE STUDENT MEDIA!

CSM and Xpress Radio were one of the best things about my time in Cardiff, as I'm sure is the case for all the students who were ever involved. It's a shame to see them under threat and would be a tragedy to see them go.

Joining CSM and running a section made my university experience. It was the kickstarter for my career in radio. And I believe the reason that it had such an impact on me was because of the volunteers who ran it, and inspired me to get involved and develop my ideas. It's the passion and integrity of the people who volunteer relentlessly that makes it so successful and I think this years student media members deserve to continue to have their sections run by people of the same disposition. Let them continue to thrive as they have done so far this year because they’re doing a fine job.

CSM has brought me many happy memories both in Cardiff and also during my Year Abroad. Listening to Xpress and reason Gair Rhydd online was a great way to keep in touch with my home uni.

My friends have recently joined the CUSM and were greatly displeased by the recent decisions that were out of their control. Therefore I felt it necessary to support this petition, both on behalf of their radio shows- and Cardiff University students as I believe the decisions recently made were made with wrong intentions.

We, as students. believe in democracy, and do not want a boss imposed on us, who is untrained and, and who breaks the democratically agreed covenant already set in place by previous Media Officer. #SaveXPress #shuffleshow http://djwezg.com/shuffle-show

Despite only being part of CUSM for a month or so, I think its important that I sign this as changes shouldn't be made that affect the media for the worse when it works so well as it is. It is a shame that we have to go on strike.

Student Media know what they want, and it is already being run amazingly. Don't fix something that isn't broken

This is unnecessary, it is clear that Cardiff Student Media is running far better than it ever did with a VP for Media and Marketing; it should be left without one.

When something is running so well without this position, why do we need another role? Makes no sense to have student media be run by a voice who doesn't care about it like we do.

It's important to students to have their own independent media source

It will be a sad day when students can no longer voice their opinions through student media.

Student Media should have the same autonomy all clubs and societies possess. An opportunity to properly debate the future structure of Student Media without it being clouded by an election has been wasted.

Really disappointed at this situation and need it to be resolved in the near future as it is effecting me academically and emotionally.

From an outside point of view, it seems very much that the Student Senate are trying to destroy CSM. I'm no longer a member, having graduated, but without my CSM experience I guarantee my job hunt would've been much more painful. Almost all of my CV post-graduation was CSM related experience The Senate are placing obstructions in the way of CSM's members, in the form of an inexperienced VP Media, which would make it much more difficult for them to produce quality content and enhance their CVs. CSM was one of the most worthwhile things I did at uni, and I want my friends still at Cardiff University to still be able to take advantage of it.

The whole situation is a joke. I will encourage everyone that I know to sign this petition.

I am very strongly in favour of this and I hope as many people as possible sign this petition as it is crucial to Cardiff Student Media that things remain as they are. In fact, if the senate decide to massively disrupt the workings of Cardiff Student Media by electing a new VP (the sole candidate for which has repotedly had no student media experience whatsoever) then the future of student media would look very bleak indeed.

Never been a fan of control disguised as accountability - the people proposing this are self interested and nothing more. It shouldn't even be a sabb position IMO.
