Without Quench and CUTV I'm certain I wouldn't have come close to getting the internships I have had since graduating and as such wouldn't now be working as a Development Assistant for an international film company. Student media is vital for ensuring diversity in the creative industries as you don't need connections etc to take part you just need to turn up. Cardiff Student Media was responsible for some of the best memories I have from my time at uni, the idea that it could cease to exist does not seem possible.

In a world that prizes connections over skills, seeking a job in the media can seem something of a pipe dream. However, cardiff's superb student media proves the skills it's equips its members with can help them overcome the barriers of this nepotistic industry and give them a food through the door. Without being editor of quench, I certainly wouldn't be an editor at one of the world's biggest websites, ASOS. Closing down student media is closing down the point of access for students who aren't lucky enough to have friends and family working in the industry they're so desperate (and deserving) of working in.

The senate is full of idiot labour stooges who want to destroy student media and replace it with a shitty effigy of Ed Miliband
