Help rescue the future of a rare, respectable, young man

This is exactly what is wrong with the justice system.

I pray that they don't do this to this child the DA should worry about real crime people please leave this young man to live his life my prays are with you all

Putting this child in prison would only benefit the prison for profit system.

How does it protect or serve the community to have this young man sent to prison? What good could possibly come of this?

I made a big stupid driving mistake before I turned 18(and got caught)... I'm pretty sure everyone who get their license at the age of 16 had some sort of story where they behaved like a stupid teenager behind the wheel, because our minds at that age don't think rationally, especially in a scary situation. Yes.... A punishment is in order, but not one that will cost the state more money and put a tag on this child for the rest of his life.... Maybe a punishment that could help the community, the elderly, veterans, homeless people. It could turn into the best thing that has ever happened to a stranger in need or to him and his family and friends. We need more people to volunteer, why not start by making them so they can see how easy and wonderful it feels to be a part of the community like that?!

People steal cars, do drugs, shoot people, break into homes, and get a slap on the wrist. Why be so harsh on this child that made an honest mistake because he was scared?

Why is it that we as parents are told we are wrong for disciplining our children yet when the children turn around and make a mistake the courts can discipline them so harshly????? Why not let this child go with some counseling, community service, drivers safety refresher courses and a drivers license suspension till his 21st birthday.

The max charge is 1-3 years, this is just what the DA is asking for. I found out that it is expungeble however the DA is opposing it. Like WTH?

Give this boy a chance to live a normal life!!!!! No priors no drug use...? And still giving him the full max charges?!? GIVE THIS CHILD A CHANCE

He is a very good kid and does not deserve this!

Please consider the entire situation and all issues involved before you ruin the life of a frightened child. Focus more efforts on prosecuting the true criminals: drug dealers, murderers, and rapists, etc.

Every child deserves a second chance, look at the whole picture, not just one piece of the picture

I too have a 15 yr old son who has just started driving I would want this done for my son if the tables were turned. Keeping you and your family in my prayers

This otherwise-good kid's foolish mistake as a new driver, does not justify his being so harshly judged as an adult! Being placed in a lockup with adult prisoners could destroy him, and turn his life toward crime rather than away from it!!!

Please give this poor child a break. I know real felons who have received breaks when they shouldn't have. Don't ruin this kid's life.

Please do not enforce a felony charge on a first time, non violent, juvenile offender. Rehabilitation works better than punishment, it's been proved again and again. If you choose to punish rather than educate and rehabilitate a child, you often end up with an offender for life. Children make mistakes; children learn from mistakes. It would be a crime against basic decency to destroy the life of a young man for making a mistake through which no one was harmed.

I have met this young man a couple of times and he was always respectable. No one was injured. Punish him but don't destroy him.

I am asking for you to consider the young mans life before this incident. This is an opportunity for the justice system to teach. You have the power to change his life forever, I ask you to reconsider the felony charge. Give him an opportunity to show he is a good young man with a just punishment.

So sorry to hear this
