Not a good way to spend our resources, convicting a good kid with no negative history, for a traffic incident - in addition to risking turning him into a potential blight on society after serving time and ruining his record.

Should not be treated as a criminal. That's what's wrong with our society today. The justice system lets offenders walk and people that are outstanding and make a mistake, they try to send to prison. Shame

There are far too many other offenders who have committed worse crimes that need to be incarcerated. Rehabilitation IS part of the legal system and this boy has shown genuine signs of remorse; he deserves a second chance to start adulthood out on the right path. Compassion may be just the inspiration he needs to start that journey.

My son stole his aunts car at 13. Drove miles away and got caught. He got nothing but a slap on the wrist. Thank god too. Hes been good ever since.

This is absolutely ridiculous. All the courts seem to care about these days is their conviction rate and how much money they can make, in the time I've been old enough to understand the court systems I've not once seen a case in which the court was actually worried about doing the right thing.

He shouldn't be charged with a felony since he has no priors and this is his first offense. What the DA is doing to him is not justice, it is racial profiling and that is wrong!

Lets use some common sense here. This young man should not get a felony charge for this. Everyone knows this is not how you treat a once-in-his life offender. Not unless you want him to turn into a real felon. He has learned his lesson, the stress alone is punishment enough. Dont be so blind and by the book. Use your education and position to make him a better person.

A good KID is going to become a felon and then have trouble getting a job. And with minimum wage so low have a higher risk of becoming a drug dealer or something just to be able to get by. It's a dominoe effect and things will just keep getting worse for this boy all because of a mistake he made when he was a KID.. stop acting like he killed someone or has a horrible past. Don't ruin this good boys life. Don't have him lose faith and turn into a real criminal. Hopefully the judge on this case isn't as much of a jackass as the DA and will go easy on him.
