Educators should not be underpaid. That should be a crime, and is ridiculous and unacceptable.

In order to keep our kids excited about learning and school we should keep their teachers well rewarded.

We need to pay our teachers competitively to attract and retain great talent. Let's get this done so the focus can be on the kids.

In 1995 teachers were fighting for a new contract. They'd been trying for several years and decided that rather than strike (yet), they'd limit their hours to classroom time only - no after school hours, meetings, etc. They had no choice, and we supported them as we do now -- but it was very divisive and created a horrible atmosphere for all involved. It ruined the senior year of my daughter and her classmates. It pains me to see that teachers are still having to fight so hard for something that shouldn't have to be fought for at all. Teachers shape the world - support them!!

I stand in support of my fellow teachers and staff members. Please remember it is not only classroom teachers fighting for appropriate pay, but specialists, behavior thearapists and aides as well. Currently our background has NO effect on our pay level. Please do what's right and give us what we need to live! And what we deserve to earn for the amount of relevant schooling and experience we have!
