Help our residents of NY State Nursing Homes see their Families!!

Please allow family and friends visitation rights

Have you seen the news piece (possible on BBC) of the ingenious way one place had plastic arranged with arms so family could hug through iron fence.

Governor Cuomo, please rethink your decision. You’re bringing a lot of unnecessary heartache to too many families. I believe you said New York means loving.

I’m sure there is a way that you can make this all work so these people can see their family members.

This is a violation of my mother's civil rights.

My mother lived with me. 1 of her 7 children. She was used to seeing one of us at least once a day. She now has to see a psychologist because she is so depressed. Why because she and many other Residents are broken hearted. Let us put PBE’s on and visit our mother. This is ludicrous.

Will I be with my mother before she dies! You have taken away her only child. You have taken away her civil rights. You have taken away her DPOA. You have taken away her HCP. You have taken away any quality life she may have left. She lives in dirty diapers. She stares at her food because no one will help her eat. She has lost her taste from dirty dentures. She sits in a dark room with no hope of seeing her only daughter. She is being punished for being old. Let Essential Family Caregivers in before they suffer more and die alone. The families and the residents need to make the harsh decisions now, not government. Nursing home residents should have one family member designated as an advocate that has unrestricted visitation. The Advocate would undergo the same health check as the facility employees. #VisitationSavesLives
