They are doing a great job and that money should go to the workers!

Wasn't that the whole point in all these new commissioners, to have the workers backs? I know that's why I voted in the election, to help out the guys who pick up my garbage every day. They always do such a great job, are always kind and even make sure to wave hello to my children, no matter what. That's just not right.

I wish they had one of these for the NayOD when they spent almost a billion dollars on a new police academy.

It's all politics, everyone lies to get elected, and then once in, the truth comes out. Whoever is behind this should be ashamed of themselves. I don't think you have any idea how many people you are pissing off and upsetting in Oceanside. You will be solely blamed for this, and looked at as the person/persons who lied not only to the workers, but to the community who supported them on that election day. I'd rather my sanitation workers well paid, as their money gets distributed to all of our local businesses, rather than a new garage.

That's upsetting. You are not just hurting them but their families as well. Just remember, when you take away a well deserved pay raise from someone, you're taking it away from their wives, husbands and children too!

That sounds crazy to me. Didn't sanitation get assistance from Fema? I know I read that, that should have fixed any issued. And I am pretty sure they must have insurance? That would have covered a majority of the damages as well. Even if there are other issues to make the garage more secure, why would you need $1.2 million to do that? And I wholeheartedly agree that if the workers were promised, or better yet, deserve raises, which I know they do, then that should be the first priority. They're the glue holding everything together. They're the ones risking their lives everyday. I've spoken and seen what some of these guys make, and it's despicable. I am not even sure how some of them support whole families. The commissioners should be ashamed if they are going to go back on their word and not support their workers like they should. I know who I am not voting for next election, that is for sure.

Isn't the entire budget roughly 8 million? $1.2 million on a garage sounds insane to me.

It's very disheartening to see this is still happening in a great town like Oceanside. It's sad that corruption, is still at the forefront of these leaders.
